we got try a new place in Warwick last night Captains Resto-Bar. it is in the building where Coras County Cork Irish Pub used to be. we all loved our meals. i had a pastrami rueben (even tho i thought i had ordered a straight pastrami) very tasty with a Generous portion of excellent pastrami. everyone else made note of the generous potions in their sandwiches. i also had the fried pickles maybe more batter on them than i would have liked but a nice spicy dipping sauce. there are no draft lines hear so the accent is on mixed drinks and wine ( so not a place for me as i am a beer snob that drinks local draft beer). the service here is not great. we got seated and then waited a half an hour to order, and when i tried to order my meal with my drinks i was told i would have to wait until our drinks were served. it all appeared to be very chaotic to us but maybe this the was people now expect when they go out for a meal. the main attraction (atmosphere) here is the outside dinning by the cove. with the weather about to switch to fall/winter i am not sure how that is going to work for them ( only limited seating inside tables for 2). lastly one the food items that we had loved at Coras was the fried green beans which were on the menu and just as delicious as before . maybe we will try again in the spring....if they are still open Tried again two months ago on a Saturday night about 4 couldn't get in one and half hour wait. Asked if having a reservation would have helped. Was told they only do first come. Ahead to this past Saturday I checked the busy graph on Google for the lightest business times. Found two to four lightest. Got there about 3:30. Was asked if we had a reservation..... with out a reservation the wait is..."THREE HOURS"!!!!! No where on The website or Facebook page is there ANY mention of reservation!!! I don't think I will ever go back and try again. We used to go to Cora's quite often. My wife loved having her meal on the deck by the water in the sun. Now we will have to find another place. I guess if I am not dressed in a golf shirt and khaki then I will be told " no room for you" They are just another...
Read moreThis is my first visit to Captains and certainly not my last. It’s a small, cozy restaurant that has seating inside and outside on the deck as well. I went to Captains with some friends and family, about 8 or 9 of us. We ordered and shared so many delicious appetizers and drinks. When you decide to visit Captains, you absolutely must try their Brisket Egg Rolls! (Delicious brisket added inside the egg rolls) You haven’t had Anything like them. That will certainly be my go-to appetizer. We also had the brisket nachos! If you think you’ve had good nachos in your life… You won’t believe how tasty the Brisket Nachos are. Calamari. I have had rubbery, chewy, tough Calamari at so many restaurants, and I continue to order it when it’s available… at Captains, the calamari was perfect; Tender, delicious rings of delight! Another appetizer that I will enjoy when I return. And their Fish n Chips! Now, honestly I didn’t actually taste it but one in our group did, and said that it was cooked perfectly flaky, and moist. It looked so good. As the night progressed, so did our consumption of drinks. They have a large selection of your favorite drinks, both alcoholic and nonalcoholic. Chances are that you’ll find something you enjoy. The staff here are energetic and fun. They are very attentive to the patrons needs and I never waited longer than 1 or two minutes for anything I asked for. For all the food and drinks we had, and a wonderful night out… we spent about $40 per person. Now THATS what I call a great night out with...

Shrimp - delicious - would have liked a bit more char on edges as they were a bit blond - worried - but perfectly cooked. Nachos with brisket not a winner for us - pico de gallo tasteless - tomatoes chopped way too large, no spice = no jalapenos. Huge pile of chips so the middle of this mountain had just chips - brisket pieces ok - but they should focus on taste not size. It really is missing freshness, a bit more sauce with the brisket so they remain moist, and spice. Wings - ok, we try everywhere just "to see" how they are. They were - DRY. Every last one of them - 2 flats the rest drumsticks. We like flats. But fine - let's try them. The sauce was ok- house - nothing new at all. But the skin was TOUGH because they were over fried. Not sure as I have never had such dry, tough wings before. I would urge the chef to buy your wings from Sandy's Meat market - they are double the size, always moist and never tough. I would pay more for wings if they were like Sandy's. Drinks - just opened so no draft beer yet - but we understood that. First tito's and soda - fine. Second served in much smaller stemmed glass and not as strong. Overall, I would go back, but the menu is limited. We will stick to the apps as we did today as there is a bit more choice. Main menu - hamburgers, BLT, reuben, salad . . . did not grab me for a waterfront bar. It is a beautiful location...
