Best crab Benedict I've had, great service, highly recommend!
The Shanty had a rustic feel with indoor and outdoor seating. We made reservations for brunch and sat indoors in a booth. Our waitress was genuinely friendly, very sweet and attentive.
They have a solid list of brunch and lunch menu items ranging from a duck confit omelet special, to lobster Benedict, as well as traditional options. There's an extensive cocktail list which includes mimosas and bloody Mary's as well as both of those with a fun, unique twist. While I generally go for a bloody Mary, their other cocktails sounded too intriguing to pass up. I got the Lake Como, which was a prosecco, housemade lemonciello, raspberry cocktail and it was refreshing and delicious. For brunch I got the crab Benedict and my fiance got the poached lobster Benedict. I absolutely love crab and can't resist a crab or crab cake Benedict, but this was by far the best crab Benedict I've ever had. The crab must have been poached in butter because every bite reminded me of crab leg dinners drowned in butter. The potatoes were cooked to perfection in a lovely rosemary seasoning blend. Everything was delicious, had a great experience. We'll definitely be back. 10/10...
Read moreFirst and foremost, service was excellent. Everyone seems to work together and are very attentive.
Adult chocolate milk was boozy and tasted like chocolate milk. One of the better parts of the meal
The food left much to be desired. We had pork belly nachos, poutine, duck pot pie and a side of smoked Mac and cheese.
Pork belly was excellent but the pieces were so large and not appropriate for the delicate fried wontons. Honestly, the pork belly should just be an entree it's so good. Also the cheese sauce that was served with this was sparing and grainy
The poutine is advertised as having cheese curds. What we were served was a gummy lump of cheese on undercooked cold potatoes was a dot of gravy. We got this specifically because we thought it had cheese curds but it did not.
Duck in the pot pie was also excellent but the carrots were undercooked and hard.
The Mac and cheese is supposedly smoked but it had no smoked flavor whatsoever. It was mediocre and came out cold on the first go around.
I think this place has potential with sou go out to eat good food and I don't see myself going back. very good elements and an excellent staff but the foods needs to be on point for me to want to...
Read moreWe went to The Shanty for lunch on Saturday. It was our first time there and it had been highly recommended. It's a cozy place and the staff is helpful and friendly. We got there at 2 and the breakfast menu was still available, and looked good. We ordered lunch and everything was good. The cream of broccoli soup was so good that even my wife, who dislikes broccoli, liked it. She also liked her lobster roll except it was a bit too lemony. It did have big pieces if lobster in it and she gave it a four out of 5, less lemon would have made it a five. I had a salad with roasted brussel sprouts and bacon. It was tasty but the brussel sprouts were a bit soggy and the bacon was hard to find (I lived in the south for 10 years and love bacon). The fresh unsweetened tea and locally brewed IPA were both good. The short version is that we liked it and look forward to going back for dinner. The food was delicious even though we thought it could have been better and we loved the atmosphere. The cost was more than what we usually pay for lunch, but with a lobster roll that's not surprising. We're looking forward...
