This course is nice, but not $80-$100 for a tee time nice. DO NOT play here if you don’t want to deal with un-fixed divots in the fairway, un-fixed pitch marks all over the greens in every putt line, and poorly cared for bunkers to the point where there has been wasp nests in multiple bunkers on the course (also not raked 80% of the time). The rough is also very inconsistent, with some parts feeling like you’re playing at Oakmont for the US Open and some feeling like a regular public golf courses rough.
I also heard a conversation between a member and the director of golf, where the member was complaining to him about the amount of divots in the fairway and the director of golf’s response was “a corporate guy told me divots mean dollar bills”, implying that he and the owners of the course do not care about the condition of the course and only the money. Which is pathetic, they are doing the bare minimum to keep people happy enough to play the course.
They also do not truly respect veterans, military, and first responders. For 4th of July, they put a lot of American flags up but took them straight out of the package and put them up. They did no preparation for the flags and when they took them down they ROLLED them around the poles they were on and they have been sitting in a corner in the cart barn since.
To add on top of this, the management and corporate do not care about their employees especially the cart barn employees. While the cart barn employees are paid minimum wage ($10.70/hour) and get no tips, but the other positions mostly start at $15-$18 an hour.
The course also EXCEEDS the amount of money they need to profit every day, which is around $14,000. I believe they usually make $20,000-$30,000 every single day. Even on off days, they still break profit. All of that money pretty much goes to the corporate guys.
This golf club may seem like it has things figured out, but they truly do not have it figured out. They are just getting by with the bare minimum, and only attracts the people that have money. It used to be $50 for 18 and a cart when it was privately owned but now it is significantly more and it is not worth it. They also do not allow people to pay for only walking, people are forced to pay for a cart regardless of whether they want to use one or not.
They fool people with being able to keep the course green and somewhat nice, but they can improve on A LOT of things.
The point is, it’s not worth the amount you have to pay to play this course. Sure it’s not, but not...
Read morePlayed middle of October for the first time. Course was in INCREDIBLE shape - well manicured, greens fast and true, rough was thick but fair. Riveted faced bunkers are a really cool visual - fortunately I didn’t hit in any of them, but appeared in great shape as well. Course is American links style, but the bunkers do add a little euro flavor to it.
The entire course works its way thru a housing development - which I know some people don’t like - but that being said, has a nice layout. Some of the holes at least offer some protection from the homes with trees and the tall grass, but some holes are fully exposed to the houses. That didn’t take away from the experience for me at all, but I know some don’t like courses that close to housing developments.
It’s definitely a course you can score on if you keep it in play. Fairways are pretty generous, but the trouble is usually water/trees/tall grass. Greens are big and have lots of slope, so you have to miss in the right spots. Even from the back tees, many of the par 4’s will leave short clubs in. There are a few long ones as well though. The back 9 has much more water in play than the front. 10-14 all have water come into play. Then 18 as well. 18 has a great view of the clubhouse - which is an awesome building - a great finishing hole.
Clubhouse was really nice and up to date. We didn’t eat at the restaurant, but it looked very nice, and there were people sitting outside eating because it was so nice out.
The only downside was I played as a single, and caught up to a threesome by hole 10. Even tho there was no one in front, they never let me thru, despite me repeatedly waiting for them on each tee box. Other than that, the experience was great, and worth the 90 minute drive. The twilight price was...
Read moreWe had our wedding ceremony and reception here! Could not recommend enough!
The location is stunning. We loved having the ceremony outside with the pergola behind us and you can see the lake. The cocktail hour was both under the tent and on the lawn. We went inside for the reception and got to enjoy the view with all the gorgeous windows.
Mainly, we LOVED working with Keri. We initially worked with Lisa who went to a different venue, and we had loved Lisa so Keri had big shoes to fill :) But she did it with ease! Literally every little thing we wanted - Keri made it happen. We really wanted our pets included in our special day, and we made little polaroids to clip on the cocktail hour glasses. We did signature cocktails with unique ingredients like mint and St Germain! Anytime we asked for a request she got back to us promptly and kindly with a yes! She is also just a very lovely person to work with in general.
There was a slight miscommunication with the chef where our vegetarian meals were made vegan instead of vegetarian, so they were not quite as delicious as when they had the cream sauce - but this was such a minor thing that it wasnt even an issue!! Everyone loved the meal and had a splendid time.
Golf Club of Dublin will have a very special place in...
