Incredibly overpriced and sub standard sushi. The rice was poorly seasoned (too sharply acidic... I suspect white wine vinegar not rice wine vinegar) and warm. Sushi is a dish first and foremost about the rice. (The owners know this is not a top quality polished sushi rice they are using also, but perhaps that's dicing things too finely. The glaring issues here are more obvious to more people without a detailed knowledge of Japanese cuisine.)
The main issues here e quality and value. I ordered tekka don and received 5 slices of tuna so thin you could see the rice through them on a small dish of rice... A very small dish suitable for an appetizer or perhaps lunch portion. Five small slices of maguro for $25?! The California roll was poorly made and avocado had brown spots... There was nothing here to like.
A $44 bill for that dish and a poorly constructed handroll... Unacceptable and very over priced. (my reference point is Manhattan sushi restaurants... No one expects sushi to be cheap, but this is exploitative and let me stress again... Quality was below...
Read moreI hadn't visited there in a few years or so. Had the owner changed? I was shocked at the deterioration in quality when I had lunch just recently. The sushi at this restaurant used to be a very satisfying size and taste, both the rice and the ingredients. The sushi at this time was half the size it used to be and the fish was not as fresh as it used to be. About two thirds of the rice was dried out, and the rice was generally tasteless, hard, and not all of it was edible. The dumplings were so crispy it was like eating crackers. Miso soup usually comes first, but the waiter brought it to us as if he just remembered when we had finished eating everything. When we left the restaurant, they didn't say thank you, have a nice day, or anything like that. Worst quality, worst service, will never go back. Horrible! I want...
Read moreI thought long and hard about leaving a review, but finally decided that I had to. My wife and I, big sushi fans, decided to give Sush dot com a try based on the recommendations of multiple friends. Our normal Japanese go-to is Mister Sushi in Gahanna. This trip to Sush dot com was our first and will be our only. The service was sluggish (which we understood in advance due to the warning on the door) so we were famished by the time our Sushi arrived. And such a disappointment. The taste was mediocre. The rice was, well, not the quality that we're used to in Japanese rice.
We were so disappointed and even remarked that we would have gotten more dining satisfaction from a McDonald's. Based on the generally very positive reviews, we might have caught them on a bad night but we...
