I live just down the street and first went in long ago, but at that point they only took cash. I don't carry cash, so I didn't go back for years. I just happened to stop in a month ago for a beer, and now that they take cards I've been in a few times since. The food I've tried so far has been really good, comes out hot, and the wait is short. The kitchen staff is clearly on it.
Prices are reasonable, and the food will fill you up. The pulled pork nachos stuffed me, as have the burgers. I actually asked if they have a smaller burger. I believe theirs are a half pound, and you won't leave hungry after one of them. Only suggestion would be different fries. They're thin cut, and seem to have a lot of little short pieces, so it's not as easy to grab a few. I prefer a thicker cut fry, but that's just a personal thing. I don't want to suggest that their fries aren't good. They are.
Beer selection is pretty good too, and reasonably priced. Be aware that parking can be tight, but not much anybody can do about that.
There is one particular server I wasn't thrilled with, who I won't name, but I won't be going in if she's working. I used to be a server, so I try to be as polite as I can, always. Say please, say thank you, say "can I have" instead of "I want", that kind of stuff. She'd bring me a beer, I'd say thank you, and she'd just turn and walk away like she was leaving a drink at an empty table. I figure maybe she's having a bad day, but she's laughing and joking with all the people who are obviously regulars, so I don't know. Just seemed like she couldn't really be bothered with a new customer. That was disappointing. Still tipped her, but would have been more with a little...
Read moreI have owed this pub a review for quite some time! This hole in the wall pub is anything but a dive bar, it may be out of the way but definitely worth of every minute it takes to get there! This not your traditional pub fare, not even close my friends! If that's what you desire seak it elsewhere. What you will find here are mouth watering creations made from scratch and the heart! Cozy atmosphere for your get togethers on game days our just wanting to hang out and relax! The staff is amazing and I cant say enough about the bar manager/chef/waiter Tyler. well what doesnt he do is the question? When hes not working, well hes working, running around researching his next special visiting food trucks and other establishments to create his next masterpiece! Not to say thar others in the kitchen dont have a hand in this! I've had the pleasure of mouth watering creations like the fried chicken Benedict, the streat tacos (hands down the best I've had the pleasure of injesting) and their out if this world chicken fried steak! All these as well as daily specials and regular menu items are amazing! Trust me you cant go wrong with anything offered! Hand crafted cocktails that created in house are amazing as well! Plus a rotating Tap selection of beers and ciders for you to enjoy! I still kick myself for not being available to partake in the prime rib fried steak, a spin on the chicken fried steak but this gives you an idea of the amazing creations available here! Do yourself a huge favour and take the time to drive out of the way and enjoy a culinary masterpiece and a place you might not know of!! Say hi to Tyler for me if you can find him! You wont regret it!

Read moreThis pains me to write. I lived in the area years ago and would go to South Bay every weekend for brunch. The food was amazing, the service was great, and the drinks were cheap. It was a local gem that should have been on "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives." I recently returned to the area and my first stop was South Bay. I knew they had changed ownership and was worried about it going downhill but figured it would be tough to screw up a turn key operation. Man was I wrong. I recently heard the entire staff from the former ownership has walked out.
I've been to South Bay three times now and served twice in the past two months. Last weekend I thought I would get brunch and sat at the bar. I waited for 15 minutes without being addressed or even handed a menu. Other customers who clearly know the staff and owners would go to the servers station at the bar and immediately get a drink. After the 15 minutes of being ignored, the lady next to me asked the owner if she was going to offer me a menu. The owner said "Everyone wants something from me right now and I just can't!" And walked away without even handing me a paper menu. I got up and walked out.
What a horribly run establishment. The new owners should be ashamed of themselves for allowing the quality of everything to go downhill as quickly as it has. They took local pub that was known for its menu and amazing food and turned it into something completely different which now just resembles the dumpy bar every town in America has. I wholeheartedly expect to see this place on Bar Rescue someday. Unless there is a change in ownership I will not be eating here again and I recommend you don't waste your time...
