I took my mom, dad, wife, and family to Sunday Brunch for Mother's Day. We were seated on the patio and the view was great but there was absolutely no shade so we got roasted. We ordered our drinks and waited a full, roasting, 15 minutes for them to arrive. The menu is small and the prices are not. Eggs Benny was $17. It tasted great but was tiny. One open faced muffin with NO side at all. The French toast looked amazing but was completely raw on the inside. Three of my family ordered this breakfast and were all trying to trade the rest of us for anything else. If you want a side, of which there were only two, bacon and fried potatoes, it was extra. NO REFILLS! I ended up paying for 9 lemonade!!!! And most baffling, NO TOAST (period) I even tried to order an english muffin, which I knew they had because I had the miniscule but tasted eggs Benny but they wouldn't let me. Worst of all was the service. Barely saw a waitress the whole time. Had to stop anyone who would listen to ask for refills, which were spendy I found out when the bill came. $185 after tip for 7 people for hit and miss food. Did I mention that the table of 7 next to us who had arrived about the time we were getting our drinks got their food before us? Super annoying, especially when the sun is burning a hole in the top of your head and they won't put up the umbrellas that we requested at the beginning of the meal. I won't be going back Update: The manager reached out to me after my review and refunded our entire bill plus tip. He explained that this was their first attempt at Sunday brunch and seemed very interested in improving the experience. With that kind of leadership I'm sure they will have the kinks worked out in no time. ...
Read moreBeen to this hidden away gem yet? If not, it is a must! The Chef is the best at making Shrimp and Grits among everything else on the menu. Beets by Matthew are a favorite too. If you're not a seafood lover you can go for the Shuksan Burger or Pork Cheeks 😊 So many good choices on the menu, with occasional seasonal surprises too. Knowing most of the items are locally sourced makes it all taste even better. Oh, and if you like a genuine Po'boy, the rolls are local from New Orleans. Just go through one of the double doors at the golf course and the kind staff are there for you. They had a tasting and pairing event last night with some amazing samples of food and ciders (Finn River) that was great to be a part of. Rumor has it they may do it again. Adding some pics of the delectable samples. Thank you to all the lovely staff for making us want to be regulars there. The warm summer night's, live music, great drinks and sweet servers definitely...
Read moreMatthew, the head chef is truly a master of his craft. The team that he has curated at The Bistro demonstrates his attention to detail and dedication to provide a healthy environment with amazing farm to table food. All of the employees are in a great mood and happy to serve you one of the best meals in Whatcom County. I also recommend going there on Friday for their jazz nights. This time I got the half wedge salad (not pictured because I ate it so fast!) the pork cheeks with a blueberry glaze, gold beets and mushrooms over puréed celeriac (the best I’ve ever had,) and a bread pudding with creole cream cheese frozen custard, that is served over candied bourbon pecans with a sweet bourbon creme anglaise to end this gastronomic symphony. Truly a delight!! Will be back many many...
