I regularly check reviews before visiting an establishment that I’m unfamiliar with and my visit to E’a fish and Chips Soul Food Restaurant which had 4.7 stars and most of the reviews were complimentary. I went to this restaurant on yesterday for some good fish on Good Friday, I arrived at 6:50pm and didn’t leave until 8pm after being told 15 mins. Finally, we got our food and we order some 360 in which you get 4 wings, 6 shrimp, fries(which were actually potato wedges not fries) and either 2, 4, or 6 pieces of fish depending on what type of fish you choose. I chose Whiting, I have NEVER seen a piece of Whiting this thin, it’s like they took one piece of fish and slit in length wise then in half giving you 4 equal pieces of ONE piece of fish. The grease that they cooked the fish, shrimp, chicken, and potato wedges in was so old you could smell the burnt oil on the food. I also ordered Mac and cheese which was unremarkable as well as a piece of carrot cake, it too was inedible. Lastly, I ordered and Mango lemonade, which was more like a concentrated syrup or overly sweetened kool aid without a hint of lemonade. The hard part is I spent $72 dollars at this place and they have a sign posted no refunds. If the food was slightly good I would not have had an issue with the amount that I spent, but for $27 that I paid for each 360, to get that food and horrible quality and the taste was horrendous, needless to say I am pissed. The dog walked around the food and wouldn’t eat(she’s finicky), she doesn’t like burnt food, I learned this by trying feed her a piece of bacon that was too overly cooked for her liking. They ought to have an option to leave ZERO stars. Also, I was going to have Buffalo wings and add sauce, they wanted...
Read moreMy husband and I were craving fish and chips so we gave E’s a try. I was not sure what to expect but I am so happy we stopped by. The space is not big and there are no tables but the lady behind the counter was very welcoming. There is a menu on the wall with a lot to offer. That day all I wanted was 2 orders of the fish, shrimp and fries comb…or so I thought. I ended-up ordering two junior size fish and shrimp combos, a small candied yams, small potato salad, a slice of carrot cake, and a homemade Arnold Palmer (ice tea/lemonade combo drink) and a homemade strawberry lemonade- $57. The fish and the shrimp are a good portion, lightly breaded (you can see the fish and shrimp- no hiding under batter or breadcrumbs), lightly seasoned and not dry. If you over cook seafood it can become dry or chewy- not the case for our order. The candied yams came hot, the potato salad chilled, and the slice of carrot cake was very generous. The yams took me back to my childhood- they reminded me of my grandma’s yams. I could have cried when I had them- I highly recommend! The potato salad reminded me of family gatherings at my mother-in law’s house. I loved her potato salad. Again- I highly recommend! Now for my new drug of choice- the Arnold Palmer! You could see the pieces of lemon as you swirled the liquid. I would go back just for that! My husband would have finished the strawberry lemonade but I drank that as well. And last but not least- the carrot cake. It was soo good! From the icing to the density. The only thing I missed was the nuts inside but it was just as good without them. We will be...
Read more1st time trying this restaurant and mannnnnn was I blown out of the water! 1st things first I was searching for soul food "and a place where I could get delivery because momma didn't feel like driving on her only day off" (don't judge me😂) another restaurant popped up first and they also had great reviews. Bummer, I thought because they're closed on Sundays. E's Fish & Chips was up next and the reviews had me sold! I have a family of four (my 3 little broke best friends and myself. 👧🏽🧑🏽👦🏽+👩🏽 so spending almost 50$ was easy because we wanted to try a little of all of our favorites. My favorite by far was the Mac N Cheese, cornbread & collard greens. My kids said the wings and Mac & cheese taste better than mine 🤣 (it be your own kids sometimes) but I couldn't agree with them more. The food reminded me of living under my granny's roof. Every night you always got a hot delicious well seasoned meal. The owner/owners have perfected a craft that tastes like its made with love. I will definitely be ordering from here whenever I want some amazing food for the soul and pass along there name and...
