First time here. The location is a bit hidden. The food was lava hot and fresh. The coleslaw was creamy and amazing. My brother got catfish, and he said that was great. I got cod basket, and it was great as well. For sure, a spot any fish lover needs to go. I wish I knew about this place faster.

There is no better place for fish in the cedar valley. We’ve been there about 3-4 times now and the food and service is consistently great. We’ve tried Friday fish fry’s at other restaurants and it’s not even close, CVFM is the real deal.

I would say this is a place you don’t want to miss if you like seafood and come in the region. The fish is so fresh with very reasonable price that you want to come back again and again.

I've been going to the Cedar Valley Fish Market for the past 40 years ever since it was in downtown Waterloo and then in the present loction with my Dad and my Grandfather, both have past away and going for all you can eat fish brought back good memories, but after tonight I will never go back again. The new owners don't have a clue. We walked in the front door around 720 PM and immediately an employee yelled at us "we're done with all you can eat fish, you can order other things but not all you can eat". This was in front of the entire restaurant and the hole place turned and looked at us. It was embarrassing to say the least. This was the first Friday of Lent and I've probably been there 40 plus times with my dad, he just passed away in Oct and now this place is dead to me. My Dad dying really hit me hard tonight, i really miss the old...

Friday night during Lent we were looking for a fish fry like we often go to back home. Came here on the basis of other reviews. When we arrived it really looked like a pretty "nothing" place amid old buildings awaiting demolition and the inside kind of fit with the outside and we wondered if we'd made a mistake ...but it was packed with apparent locals/regulars. The waitress was nice/funny and the food was exactly what we had in mind (and good examples thereof) with a few unfamiliar local touches and seldom encountered items*. Very good overall. Luckily we had arrived early as a long waiting line started to develop about 5:30 after we had already been served. Would eat here again.

*e.g. pea salad,...

Just had a GREAT Walleye all you can eat meal for a much lower price than you would pay in a fancy restaurant and it tasted fresh, sweet, and just as good. Don't expect the Taj Majah or fancy. This has been a family run fish market and restaurant since I was a kid (1960's). Now run by two brothers. Good food for excellent price and we still can enjoy looking at all the fresh and frozen fish in the display case like we did as children. Grandpa is the only nonfish eater but he enjoyed a half pound burger and fries for $4.50 that he raved over. Good family place but...
