La Mich — Restaurant in Waterloo

I started coming here 24 years ago when they were in a truck on that property, & LOVED it! I did not like Mexican food that much prior & after eating the quesadilla pastor with their semi hot, yet FABULOUS salsa verde; I was HOOKED! Moved to Denver, CO for about 11 years, tried a LOT of trucks, mom & pop places that were decent, yet NOT ONE compared to this, & no one could make their salsa verde!! Came back a few years ago to still see them here, & it’s still AWESOME! I chatted with some of the family that owned it, and they are still really nice people as well. I HIGHLY recommend you try it as, you won’t find anything close, not unless they have someplace in MX that’s similar. I’ve already had some in Juarez & 👎 God bless this place, and the family!

I been going to la michocana for years, lately the last year it has been horrible. I always get the same thing, they hardly put any meat on your stuff it’s more tortilla then it is anything. Besides that my last few experiences have been horrible, one event I ordered steak quesadilla and there was only cheese 👀 I had to go back inside and have them fix it. Another time there was no meat on my steak fries, they didn’t offer me anything for the incovience that I waited 15 minutes for my stuff to be all messed up nor did I even get a apology. Another time actually the last 3 times I called to place a order she asked me to hold on and hung up I called back and they answered and hung up on me. Finally I went through drive thru, they asked me to hold I sat there ten minutes.... gave my order and got to the window and she told me I can’t pay with debit in drive thru I had to come inside so what do you have a drive thru for? Then I waited another 25 minutes for my food. I go to Los Reyes now, and I will continue going to Los Reyes it’s only a few blocks down... WAY more meat way better food and most of all better...

It used to be my favorite Mexican restaurant, but since the remodeling, the customer service over the phone is terrible... I was trying place an order and in the middle My order, two of the employees started talking. They never said hold please, and didn’t ask if my order was complete... so I ended up walking in to place my order while I was still on the line. The food was done in a timely manner, but she assumed I was dining in and to eat 3 different orders... she never asked if it was to go... which it was.. so she ended up throwing my food in to go boxes... My steak was chewy, my fries were soft and had no seasoning... my boyfriend said his tacos were too soft. And, the taco plate price was raised an extra $2.50... La Placita has crispy, seasoned, steak meat... and the taco plate is under $6 whereas La Michoacana taco plate was close to $8!!!! I’m just all around disappointed.... Im no longer recommending this as my favorite...
