I had a crazy hankering for some good fried catfish, so I went online to a local group and asked for recommendations. A whole lot of people replied to me with suggestions from all over the area plus some that were not so close by One of the closest places was the one restaurant that was recommended repeatedly.

Headed out a little past lunchtime today, hopefully to beat or to miss any crowds, I remembered on the way that our local newspaper does not put out a Monday edition so I decided to swing by the library and pick up a Flagpole magazine. I got all the way to the library before realizing that it’s a Federal holiday and the library is closed. Very disappointing. I stopped at a convenient store on the way and picked up on Atlanta paper. I don’t really like the Atlanta paper, they don’t have the puzzles I like, and they don’t have very many comics.

I got to the restaurant and there were only two or three cars in the parking lot. I wasn’t really surprised because it was almost 2 PM when I got there, so I didn’t expect it to be very crowded. The joint has a sports bar vibe and is probably a great place to watch the game.

The server wasted no time getting me seated and gave me a table near the window, with plenty of light so I could read my paper. She was fast talking, fast walking, super friendly, and a great personality. We laughed and laughed.

I looked over the menu just in case but as I said, I already knew that I wanted a catfish plate. It came with the standard coleslaw and fries and hush puppies and that was just fine with me.

They have a nice patio out back with a few games . One thing that surprised me was the game room they had in the back of the dining room. They had quite a few good games in there. It’s a definite plus for this place.

It didn’t take long to get my food. First, I’ll talk about the catfish they were three pretty good size fillets and they were fat and cooked perfectly. Delicious! Sadly I didn’t care for the fries. They were an odd color like maybe they were seasoned but they didn’t taste seasoned. They taste like they were cooked in dirty oil. I won’t order those again. The hush puppies were the same. They were small, kind of hard and tasted like they were cooked in dirty grease. I will never order those again either.

The coleslaw I’m kind of on the fence with. I prefer the large, chunkier cut vegetables. This slaw seem like it was almost creamed, the flavor was OK but I didn’t care for the texture. I won’t be ordering the slaw again. I’m sorry to say I was a little disappointing with my meal at Classic City Eats. I came for catfish and loved loved loved it. The rest of the meal was mediocre at best. I’ll try different sides next time. I will come here again. They have a lot of stuff on their menu and some of it looks pretty interesting. I’ve shared some photos of their menus so check it out and see if there’s anything that...

Have eaten here a few times and the food has been mostly good. Service is good and the servers are attentive. I would just say that the owner should refrain from putting in political commentary into their responses to reviews. I have read some of the responses the owner has done in relation to comments about the cost of a meal. We all know things cost more. We don't need a political lecture from the owner as to their beliefs why. Maybe the owner should educate himself, as he told a customer, as to why things are costing more. Maybe the owner should lower the salaries of their servers to keep costs down. So as to follow up, the commentator ignored the basic premise of my comment and says he shared it with the wait staff. About my suggestion. Nice redirect. But as we know servers wages can't get any worse than what they pay since that is the minimum wage for them. they could have said that in their response, but I guess they didn't know. And as a solution to inflation, there are things to do...lower wages or raise prices or a...

The place was nearly empty with the exception of a couple of Monday evening bar flies. Was greeted promptly, but after the initial greeting it took forever to order our food, then receive it. Paid $70 for 21 wings that were over cooked and under sauced, a cold basket of fries that were no bigger than a side, a side Greek salad which was actually pretty good, and a soda. In addition to terrible extremely overpriced food, they suggested that I tip on top of sales tax and a credit card transaction fee. When you recommend a tip suggestion as a convenience to your customers, first, don’t treat us as Imbeciles and include it within that suggestion. And if you’re cheap enough not to absorb credit fee transactions as a cost of doing business don’t include them in the tip suggestion either. Don’t waste your time or money eating here. It’s terrible and...

Amazing atmosphere, chill vibe and overall a fantastic time. It’s affordable, it’s delicious and the portions are really good. The drink prices aren’t terrible either! I had a Paradise on 15 with a JD’s Philly pizza to share with my boyfriend, and the fried pickle spears & sausage, pickle and cheese appetizers. The food was well seasoned, presentable and divine. The drink was well made, neither overwhelming or lacking flavor. It was perfectly made, and beautiful. My boyfriend had the sweet tea to which he really liked. We will be returning. The waitresses and bartender were super friendly, and we even had a small chat with a usual, who said he mainly came to drink, but did give us some good recommendations! Looking forward to coming back!

diner by day, sports bar at night. Friendly and courteus staff. Was seated immediately for lunch. We were the second group to enter for lunch so it was mostly empty. I had the catfish plate with a side of fries and collard greens. Our food came quickly. The fried catfish was very good, the fries seemed like they were left over from the night before. The collard greens while tasty, were slightly over salted. I recommend this restaurant if you like sports bar quisine and don't mind TVs being a little bit distracting. I would say it's a 50/50 chance that I will go back.
