**Fair Fanfare with a Hefty Price Tag** Preface: This bright restaurant in the little town of Waunakee boasts quality food and cocktails at top dollar. They provide quality cuisine while falling short in other areas. Food: I ordered the Wagyu Burger with Garlic Mashed potatoes and a Classic Mojito. The entree and side were done excellently with flavor and temperature on point. Quality is the utmost importance here. As for the cocktail, the execution was poor, but not entirely the bartender's fault as they were new. At a whopping $35 for one drink, an entree and side, the value was not entirely there. Service: Staff were nice, but lacked energy. I understand it's a Monday night, but I felt that there was a lack of liveliness for such a fun looking restaurant. Atmosphere: Clean and refined. Cohesive in restaurant design. Overall: This is one of those places where it made me think whether or not I thought it was a valuable experience. The food was great and it was cozy, but for how expensive it is and how drab it felt, I don't know how often I would return. Score: 3.6 out of 5 stars

Came on Mothers day for the first time at Buck and Honey's and we weren't disappointed. It was busy but we got good service from Nataly F once she was assigned our table. Prices are expensive (most brunch items are $20 to $30), but value is good. Large portion size and cooked to perfection. Some unique dishes you don't see elsewhere. We really enjoyed the Prime Rib Omelette with deluxe breakfast potatoes, the Cinnamon French Toast, and the Prosciutto Eggs Benedict. All winners! We started with the Buck and Honey's Sampler (Cheese Curds, Firecracker Shrimp, and Bacon Wrapped Dates). Very tasty! We dined inside, but there is an outdoor patio that faces an open farm field (probably corn).

I have had dinner at Buck and Honey's about 10 times now. Anyone who knows Waunakee also knows we are not a Mecca for fine dining, o.k. any real dining. Waunakee is known for having poor restaurant choices. So imagine how happy I was to hear we were getting a Buck and Honey's. I have eaten at the Sun Prarie location and it was good food and fun. The Waunakee location has been a constant disappointment. I have been there twice for our family events. Food was less than good for large parties. I have ordered Steaks at least 4 times and they have always been overcooked and covered with a line of grizzle as hard as can be. I expect fat in a ribeye on the outside of it, but not hard grizzle at a nice restaurant. Steaks ordered medium rare come medium well to well done. I have ordered the scallops 3 times and the flavor is delicious but eating a beach with them takes away from the enjoyment. Washing scallops is not very difficult prep work. The risotto was very good though. They have no timing on meals. You may be less than 1/2 way through your appetizer and your meal is plopped in front of you followed with are you done with your appetizers while putting bites in your mouth. I ordered the brussel sprouts and who ever accepted them never checked them. They were overgrown and like eating a tree. 5 taps were empty last time I was there. Training is apparently not high on there to do list. To go orders have been issues as well. Everything from wrong dressings to completely wrong orders. So you ask, do I complain, yes I do. And for some reason fixing an issue is never at the forefront or people would be trained. I make them put my meals back on my bill. I want you to fix the issues and not try to buy me off. Giving me a discount after I have been served a horrible or mistaken meal does not and will not fix the issue. Training and only training will fix that. One of our deserts we ordered was a creme brulee in a peach. The peach was not ripe but was very hard and they burned the peach when trying to do the brulee, this makes for a disgusting flavor. The Creme brulee itself was delicious. And by the way, a 20 minute wait to get a drink at the bar when it was not over crowded just poorly run. Finally I just want to say it shows how desperate we are for some decent food in Waunakee because they were packed. This restaurant has so much potential but at this point still has not found its footing. I truly...

I was in a group of about 20 people celebrating a birthday. My companion & I ordered a large thin crust Bombers Special pizza for $24, as well as I ordered the Beer Battered Cod Fish Fry to go for $19. The pizza is accurately named as it was "The Bomb" with toppings of: Sausage, pepperoni, cheese, onions, mushrooms, green peppers and black olives. VERY TASTY!! One of the best pizzas I've ever had. Will definitely order it again!! The Fish Fry was also very tasty. As noted, the fish (3 nice-sized filets) were beer battered, were nicely seasoned & properly cooked. The "hash browns" were definitely an interesting creation. While nicely seasoned (I think there was some garlic involved but not sure), they were definitely NOT hash browns as you would expect them to be. They were sort of lumpy mashed potatoes. Again, very tasty but do not call them hash browns. They were not cooked on a flat top or in a skillet & had NO browning or any level of crispness as one expects when one orders hash browns. I ordered them with cheese & onions. Our wait person advised that the hash browns are "pre-made" & thus the onions would have to be added on top, if that was ok with me. It was. And I later found out what "pre-made" meant - that being the lumpy mashed version of hash browns. Again, very tasty though. Now to the cole slaw - bland & no flavor except cabbage & the dressing. I realize this restaurant's menu is anything but "Midwestern" but if you're going to include a Friday Fish Fry on your menu - and it IS required here in Wisconsin (LOL) - please learn to do it right!! Fish is fine - don't change it. But the so-called hash browns & the cole slaw need attention & improvement. Overall, a very nice dining experience with very attentive wait person Clara C. She handled our large group with expertise, getting drink orders & appetizers before our entrees were served. GREAT...

This was my first time to a B&H in over 10 years, as all those years ago I had visited the Sun Prairie Location and left so angry, I vowed to never return.

After some arm twisting by my other half, I caved in, we went to the Waunakee location for the first time.

The hostess was nice and greeted us promptly.

The waitress came quickly to take our order, so things started off well.

The food showed up quickly. One order was a brunch thing, the other, a burger and mashed potatoes. My other half liked the brunch dish, as did I. The hamburger was really greasy and bland. It did not taste good at all. The potatoes were decent. The portion size was good. My main gripe of B &H years ago was the price and portion size. This visit showed B&H improved on those faults.

What was not acceptable (other than the bland greasy burger) at this visit was the server. She basically put us on the "pay no mind" list after taking the order. Never checked on us. We had to flag her down and ask for another drink order. I had to ask the bus person if someone would cash out the bill.

Also, another thing I don't understand is half of the restaurant was empty. Why stuff all of the guests at tables that were so close together? Give the guests some room. Another server kept bumping into my other half as he tried to stuff his way between our table and the one behind us. He did this several times. He could have chosen to walk around our table and then back over to his table but didn't want to take a few extra steps, I guess. Some coaching of your wait staff would go a long way.

My other half said she would return; I don't care either way. The burger wasn't that great, neither was the service. I'm a 1 star. She was at 4. I'll round up to be nice and settle on a 3...
