We went there for the 1st time Sunday for dinner, we called ahead to see if they had country fried steak dinner and meatloaf dinner.. the waitress remembered our phone call, that was a plus. The helpings was large, that was a plus. When we first walked in, We looked at the deserts on display before being told to have a seat anywhere. We went and sat down, 5 minutes or longer, the waitress comes over and takes our order, i was supposed to get a DR. PEPPER and my husband ordered a PEPSI. The waitress 1st comes out with my split pea soup. After about 20 minutes half way through my soup. We still had no drinks. I got up went to the register and ask another server if we could get our drinks. Our waitress then brings us 2 PEPSI's, and 2 waters and apologies. Then our meals came and my husband asked for butter for his toast. We continued to eat our meals still no butter. Our waitress walks by drops off or ticket and my husband asked about the butter, she brings him the butter after he finished his meal, she never offered refills or offered to pick up our plates. She never offered deserts or even a Togo container. My husband had to walk up and ask for a Togo container. Another waitress walked by and ask if we needed refills after we were ready to go. We even left her a 15% tip for very very poor service. Overall the restaurant was clean, food was good, very bland, the split pea soup was very salty, when we 1st walked in there was on 3 tables with people. Not busy at all. I used to work in the restaurant industry, I know all the steps to being a waitress. I know most restaurant servers only make $2.13 an hour, they depend on tips to survive. I even stacked our plates for our waitress. I'm not sure if our waitress was having a bad day. She needs to be retrained on the 7 to 10 steps in serving good customer service. She was more concerned on taking back the empty soup pans in the service area and talking to the kitchen staff. She kept apologizing. Remember I ordered a DR. PEPPER BUT GOT A PEPSI. WE ONLY GIVE 1 CHANCE AT GOING INTO A RESTAURANT, IF WE GET POUR SERVICE, WE NEVER GO BACK TO THAT RESTAURANT. WE ALMOST WALKED OUT, BUT INSTEAD WE STAYED TO SEE IF THE SERVICE WOULD GET ANY BETTER. NEVER HAPPENED... SHE SHOULD HAVE GREETED OUR TABLE WITHIN 2 MINUTES, AND TAKEN OUR DRINK ORDER, SHE NEVER OFFERED APPITIZERS OR DESERTS. IF YOUR HAVING TROUBLE REMEMBERING ITEMS ORDERED BY CUSTOMERS THEN WRITE IT DOWN. SHE DIDN'T EVEN CHECK ON OUR TABLE THROUGH OUT OUR VISIT BUT TO BRING MENUES, SOUP, DRINKS, FOOD TICKET AND LASTLY BUTTER AT THE END OF OUR MEAL. OUR WAITRESS DID REMEMBER THE CUSTOMERS BEHIND MY HUSBAND. THEY MUST HAVE BEEN REGULAR CUSTOMERS. OVERALL THE MEATLOAF NEEDED...
Read moreWe have been going to this restaurant for over 10 years with different owners and usually had good service and decent food. The waitresses have always been very nice. A couple of days ago I went by myself and ordered a pecan waffle. There were probably less than 10 people in the restaurant. For their pecan waffle they just make a waffle and throw a handful of pecans on top, nothing fancy and not much effort, but it gives you the taste. I started eating the waffle and realized it was doughy and not done. I sent it back with the waitress. She came by the table a little bit later and said they were making me another one. Maybe 10 minutes later she finally brought the waffle out and it was my original waffle that I had been eating on, only now the bottom was super crisp from throwing it back on the griddle and the top was still doughy and not done. I picked up my bacon, drank my coffee and proceeded to the register to pay and leave. The waitress at the register asked me about my waffle and I told her it was my same waffle and that it still wasnât done. She then took off for the waffle, which was decent of her. I wasnât trying to get a free meal, just a good meal. After leaving and thinking about it I decided that was pretty gross to take my waffle that I was eating on and throw it back on the griddle where other peoplesâ foods are made! So is that what they would do if you had a steak or a burger and it wasnât done, just throw it back on the griddle and then proceed to make other food on the same surface?? Pretty disgusting. We will not be going back to this restaurant. If they would do this, then think of what else they would...
Read moreMy husband and I decided we wanted fish. The Rose Garden has some of the best beer battered deep fried cod!! The cod pieces are definitely fillets, nice and thick. Never dry. They're made to order too which I love. No heat lamps or pre-made orders. The Cole Slaw sometimes has a bit too much sauce and not enough slaw but it is decent. The fries are always good here. We had salads this time around and I was a little disappointed. There was only one slice of tomato on a bed of salad with quite a few croutons. However, I love croutons but I wish there was maybe a slice or two of cucumber and another slice of tomato. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this restaurant for the fish fry. They also have a decent full menu and daily specials. Their soup is homemade and delicious! Their prices are reasonable and...
