The Dark Horse Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Wausaukee

I have been to the Dark Horse a few times over the past year and it is almost always perfect. Since the New Year, it is currently batting 1000. The Pizzas, sides, and sandwiches are great, I hear the drinks are always at least as good as expected. Most recently, I had the cod sandwich and it was great. The cod was the best piece of beer-battered cod I have ever had and the only letdown with the visit was that the roll the cod sandwich comes on is tasty, fresh, and has a great texture, but is not up to the task of helping the eater handle that cod. The roll was a bit too small and tender to really hold up to the superb crunch and size of the cod, which changed how you need to eat it half-way through.

Service is always top-notch midwestern class and the decor is comfortable and welcoming. You feel like you are part of the community and this is your hang-out every time you come in and sit down.

So ive ordered food a few times now for pick up. But depending on who's cooking depends on the quality of the food. After today wont order again. I shouldn't have to ask who's cooking first to known if its worth ordering. Fish tacos.... If the right person is cooking delicious. Today fish thrown on a tortilla that's it!!! But the biggest disappointment was pork belly burnt ends! $6 for nothing!!!!! Said something to the owner and met with nothing but excuses. Zero help or compensation. We had a good time at the Dark Horse! The staff, patrons, and atmosphere were friendly and engaging. The ATM is empty, but that wasn't a problem as it was very affordable. My Swiss burger and battered fries were good. Of course we had to get a tshirt. They have them in every color and shade.
