Arrived at 1:45 and sat ourselves, per the sign. Four other tables in the restaurant were seated. At 1:50, we decided we were giving it 5 minutes until we left, as we had not so much as gotten menus yet. Finally, a young woman with a ponytail came and gave us menus--and walked away. Took almost 5 more minutes before another older woman came and took our drink order; at which point I was finally able to ask for a high chair for my son.
While we were waiting for our drinks--15 minutes after we first arrived--a woman with medium length black hair got up from one of the other tables, at which point I realized she was not part of the family sitting there, but a waitress! Who had ignored us walking in and sitting without being acknowledged for all that time. She went back and got that table's food--AND THEN CAME TO TAKE OUR ORDER!!! She was our waitress the whole time, and didn't so much as look our way for nearly 20 minutes!!
We got our order in. The appetizer sampler was pretty good. Then our burgers came. Our burgers that we each ordered medium...acknowledged on the order sheet. They came out so overdone that they were crumbling! I think they would have tasted pretty good if they were done right. We ate less than one whole burger between us and brought the rest home for our dog.
I never write reviews like this, but the service was so ridiculous that I felt I needed to. This was our first and last time at this restaurant. Which is a shame, because I'd heard so many good things...
Read moreIt's ok, not great. Hit or miss. Maybe it depends on who is cooking. I don't know. One thing that has always puzzled me is why getting two of the same meat adds 50 cents.
If one item, lets say bacon, costs more than the other two then we might expect double bacon to cost extra. But wouldn't that mean something, lets say ham, cost less? And so ordering double ham should cost less? But no, it still costs 50 cents more.
Maybe it has nothing to do with the price of ham, bacon or sausage. Maybe ordering two of the same meat puts the inventory out of balance adding to waste and increased product cost.
If two people went in together and each ordered the 'Country Man' one getting double bacon and the other getting double sausage or double ham the total cost would be $1.00 more than if each ordered bacon and ham and then swapped when the meals arrived.
I know it seems like I'm making a lot of fuss about 50 cents but then it was important enough for them to put it on the menu. And yes I would prefer double sausage. And for this silliness I deduct 1 star.
Country Man $8.50 Two eggs and toast Choice of homefries or hashbrowns One plain pancake Choose two different meats: 1 piece of sausage, 1 piece of ham, or 2 strips of bacon (if you choose the same meat add 50¢; substitute scrapple for one meat add $1.75)
Update: other than American cheese add 50 cents. If you share the pancakes you pay a little extra.... A lot rules around...
Read moreWe stopped today for lunch. It was about 1:15 pm so 45 minutes before close (we didn’t know that). Two women working and we stood about 5 minutes before being acknowledged. Told to sit at a booth. We both ordered breakfast. The meat omelette didn’t seem to have any cheese that as ordered and on the receipt. Ordered crispy hash browns and received severely brown home fries. Waitress acknowledged that she had my hash browns on the order and went to check on it. Ten minutes before I received dark brown, limp hash browns. Not very tasty. My husband ordered the cream chipped beef on toast with home fries. His home fries were cold!
Waitress not very attentive and we were left to sit while only one other table remaining.
I realize it’s the end of the day for them but very disappointed.
Sadly we will not...
