Where do I start, but this is one neat little place. We arrive around 8:30 on a Saturday night. We had 10 side by sides in our group. There was already another large group there. 2 more large groups came in after us. The waitress calmly told all of us that it was just her and one cook so it was going to be a little bit of a wait. They understood if we wanted to leave but they would do their best. I will tell you that their best between the 2 of them equals a full staff of 12 or so for many. Those 2 worked their butts off and not a person in the restaurant left. Places like this are the reason we love to visit West Virginia. The people there truly want you and your business. It feels so good to spend money at a town and store where they really do want your business. I know our group tipped her very well and I hope others did too. The owners have some top notch employees! Our cheeseburgers were good too. It is a neat little closed down drive in. I would...
Read moreRestaurant looks great far away, up close everything there is barely held together. Felt very rundown from the beginning. My grandmother and I made the trip back to her hometown and she was extremely dissappointed in what used to be one of her regular restaurants. What used to be called the west virginia submarine, I believe they renamed it the submarine, was terrible and not at all what it used to be. As one of my sides I got Mac n cheese that was a 2 dollar upcharge and received cold Kraft Mac n cheese. I have a picture however I don't know how to attach it. On top of all that we had to go to a wedding on miracle mountain and my dad got terrible food poisoning while we were up there, and had to leave the ceremony to throw up in the woods. Do...
Read moreDespite being one of the busiest days/time, there was only one cook and one server on shift today. The server did great, but she was so stretched trying to keep up the dining room, the outside lot, cash register, phone, and trainee. There should have been another experienced server on shift to help with crowd control at least. I don't blame the staff, of course, because the schedule is solely the manager's responsibility. As one of the other customers lamented while waiting in line to pay, he has walked away from Sterling many other times because the staff on shift couldn't keep up with demands. Sterling has been an integral part of the County for almost 50 years. We sure hope management will reconsider the staffing decisions to be around...
