El Rancho Nuevo — Restaurant in Weldon Spring

To be honest, I’ve tried to give this place a chance multiple times because it’s close to my work. However, it just doesn’t cut it.

In my opinion, they are not friendly or welcoming. They are always rushing me out and no smile.

At one visit I asked for an extra basket of chips and was charged for a refill and then when I was with another group they didn’t charge. The menu is vague on when the extra chips get charged and I’m not a fan of that.

I recently ordered a steak to try something different and give them another chance since friends wanted to go there. I asked how many ounces and he said it was 14 ounces. Which I thought was a good deal for the $18.99 price. However, what came out was a quarter inch thin piece of meat full of fat and gristle that was at best 5 or 6 ounces.

I feel I’ve truly given them a chance multiple times but I will not be going back and spending my hard earned income at this place. Much friendlier and better food...

We used to eat here every week with groups of friends. They’re getting more and more rude. These people work 24/7 and then they’ve gotta deal with social distancing table limits and stuff like that. Well, the food has gone wayyyy down hill in the last 6 months. We couldn’t sit with our kids because of capacity limits they’ve chosen to make for Covid. When we walked in, he so rudely asked 16 of us to put on masks! No one at any restaurant nearby is requiring masks anymore. Mind you, this is one of the safest counties in MO. This is days after the CDC updated their guidelines that you don’t have to wear a mask around others. I offered to show my vaccine card, but he said he didn’t care. A buddy of mine left a special item at the restaurant and they threw it away! Hours later, it was gone. Didn’t bother to put it in post and found for him...

From the moment I called to place my order for takeout to the time I picked it up, there was just this unwelcoming and unfriendly vibe. The guy on the phone didn’t say thank you and the person who handed us the food was very dismissal in a very “here’s your food bye” kind of way. Not to mention, the order was a big order for my 3 boys and wife. As for the food, despite it taking 25min opposed to 15 like they mentioned, it was nothing special. I truly don’t get how anyone can eat here and say that this is unique mexican food, it’s literally the same stuff and taste that you can find anywhere. It’s more expensive Than traditional for no good reason other than having to pay high rent. I think their chips are also store-bought.
