I stopped into Loma Azul Mexican Restaurant in Wells, MN on a Tuesday and was lucky enough to catch their $9.99 + tax Taco Tuesday special—three handmade birria tacos with all the fixings. Let me tell you, these tacos were absolutely incredible. Each tortilla was perfectly toasted and stuffed to the brim with tender, flavorful beef and a gooey layer of melted cheese. On the side came fresh lime wedges, crisp white onions, cilantro, and one of their house-made salsas (you can choose from mild, hot, or green). The real star, though, was the consommé—the rich dipping sauce created from the slow-cooking process of the meat. It’s a deep, savory broth with just the right balance of smokiness, spice, and a hint of sweetness from chiles, tomatoes, and spices. Dunking each taco in that consommé took the flavor to the next level. Service was also outstanding—everyone was super friendly and welcoming, and my to-go order was ready in under five minutes. That’s impressive for food this fresh and high-quality. The menu has something for everyone, including a kids’ and seniors’ section, which makes it a great spot for families. Portions are generous, prices are very fair, and you can tell the ingredients are top-notch. The even have fried ice cream to finish off your meal. If you love authentic Mexican food, this is a hidden gem in southern Minnesota. Loma Azul deserves every bit of five stars—I’ll definitely be back soon to try more of their menu!

We passed by this town yesterday and stopped to eat here. I had 2 grilled chicken tacos and 2 steak tacos. They were pretty good I like it. My husband also had tacos and he enjoyed his food as well. The place is small inside but it’s beautiful and chill. The only thing I don’t like is the bathroom has to be shared both men and women. The bathroom doesn’t have a place to change baby diapers.

The food here was delicious. We were heading to Wells for Subway and saw this place on the map, so we had to stop in. We were not disappointed the portions are very fair and filling. Everything was savory and exactly what we were hoping for. So thankful to have this place close to home. We will definitely be back.

Their is always a friendly smile when you walk in the door, to food will have you eat till your in a taco induced nap. The only thing quicker than the food being delivered to your table is how fast you'll wanna eat it. If your wanting a recommendation for a first meal, mine is the pull pork burrito that will have most people full before you eat it all, but if have just a touch more room got a order some of the rice I like to order mine with the cheese...

We've been there 5 times in the last 3 weeks since we got back to town, and we've been greeted warmly each time. The food is oh, so tasty, and fast. We've dined in and we've taken out, and we've enjoyed both, although it's more fun to dine in.

The burritos are HUGE, and the rice bowl is filling and tasty. Try the fried cheesecake if you have a friend to share with.

The atmosphere is welcoming, like meeting family. Loma Azul is worthy of...
