I was visiting Welsh, so I decided to try a pastry from this place. When I went inside, I saw they had a selection of savory kolaches. When I saw boudin and cheese kolaches on a tray, I knew I had to try this collision of Czech and Cajun cultures.
I can't say I was crazy about the combination. The kolache pastry was flakey, kind of like crescent rolls from a can, and a little sweet. The boudin was fine, a little spicy, but the cheese was totally unnecessary. It was a carb fest for sure! (On a positive note, there was enough boudin filling to keep the kolache pastry from overwhelming the whole thing.)
The lady working the counter was super friendly, but she did try really hard to sell me a drink I didn't want.
