We have been several times and it was great but Saturday 11/7/20 we went at 11:45 and the experience was horrible. I don’t know if they have changed owners or not. We go when we are camping at Lake Lincoln. When we drove up there were no cars which seemed strange.Mg husband got out to check the hours and they should be open. We started to leave and called them. They said they were open.... open sign not on. We ordered a club sandwich , onion rings and a BLT. After a few minutes the cook told the other girl they did not have any bread. She then offered the club in a hoagie bun and mg husband said ok and then he suggested a hamburger bun did thy s BLT. We got to the camper and the BLT had 2 slices of rubbery bacon, very little lettuce and no tomato. The club had roast beef and bacon. He can’t remember if there was cheese. The onion rings were out in cold oil. When you went to take a bite grease poured out... We both ending up taking a couple bites of the sandwiches and throwing them away $18.00 down the drain. On a fixed income this is cruel. We will be camping again up there in January and I would be curious to see if they are still open. Would love to know what was going on,
Update: I got a response from the owner very quickly that I appreciate very much. I will call Pam when we are back in the area.
Thank you Pam for your response. It...
Read moreA great day for a slower pace drive on Hwy 51, we came across the 51 Diner in Wesson, MS. We stopped for a late afternoon lunch, and were the only customers at the time. It was late in the afternoon around 3:00 p.m. This diner is "All American" from the atmosphere to the menu! There is a good selection of options for everybody's tastebuds. Of course, there was plenty I would have loved to try, but on a diet, I stayed safe with the grilled chicken salad, and my husband ordered the hamburger and fries. The salad was fresh, great seasoned grilled chicken, and enough to fill be up. It was very tempting to add a dessert! The waitress was very attentive to check on us and turned the air down as I was chilled. Overall, the restaurant and bathroom area were clean with much attention to family service and atmosphere! I definitely recommend taking a road trip and try this little diner out. If not to eat, but to check out all the vintage decor throughout...
Read moreOn March 29, 2016, my sisters and I (3 African American women) from Florida, Michigan and Texas visited Fifty One Diner. We were not acknowledged or greeted when entering the diner. We were not offered a menu or table to dine. After we waited for several minutes, we decided to pick up a menu from the counter. The waitress immediately approached us and slammed several menus that she was carrying down onto the counter . Two individuals (possibly management) appeared from the back. Neither of them acknowledged or greeted us either. My sister eventually asked for assistance and was given a tight-lipped answer. We felt very uncomfortable and left the diner without any acknowledgement.
This episode was the worse that we have experienced in many years and we have...
