The first time I came to 4 Dogs I fell in love. It’s just such a great feeling there! I don’t understand why anyone wouldn’t be tempted to come back again and again? The staff just make it even more enjoyable experience. I couldn’t even begin to list all their names! They’re way to many great ones! I never had a problem with anyone working there! They’re lucky! On top of that 4 Dogs has so many great musicians who I respect highly for having such skills in an incredibly difficult artistic expression. Then you get the pleasure of their gorgeous flowers in the nice weather, we’ll hopefully get soon!? On top of that they have fire places outside where you can sit around and debate the Eagles winning the Super Bowl or something deep like the weather. And the dogs! Everyone needs to know you can bring your leashed dog and sit with them at the outside patio! Everyones so nice to let me pet them too! I could write a novel about how incredible this place is! It’s like no other place on this earth! A definite must visit! And eat & drink & dance & sing & celebrate life. The food is another story because that would take many words! Besides David Cox’s delicious specials, you defiantly should try on occasion, my personal favs are the fish & chips, shrimp fettuccini Alfredo ( a special ), any salad, apple crumble, au gratin potatoes, & honestly....there are so many good things to eat I struggle for a long time deciding which 1 to pick! Hope you come to visit soon! If not you’re missing out on a great group of really special people who deserve all our respect and love for running such a well oiled machine! I’ll only wish them all the best life has to offer them since they’ve shared the same with me! In fact I’m really tempted to go there tonight! If you do visit everyday don’t worry, they’d love you to! Some people do! These people get an extra special gift every year, but it’s a secret only shared for those brave ones! I was tempted to tell some stories about all these people I’ve met there, but I’ll save that for another day. Though if you sit next to me by the fire one day I’ll share...
Read moreThis review is broken up in a pros and cons style that I will refer to as "Where They Shine" (pros) and "Areas of Opportunity" (cons). I'll also add in Other Information and then final thoughts.
Where They Shine: -Good beer, wine, and mixed drinks selection (with full bar) -Nice outdoor seating (that allows dogs!) -Old building architecture ambiance
Areas of Opportunity: -Both of our lunch plates were lacking in salt and overall flavor / seasoning -Best part of the Mac and cheese dish was the side salad -I typically order a Reuben sandwich when I looking for some good tastes and flavors, but am baffled how bland and flavorless my sandwich was -Pricey for what is was (we spent $60 for two people and we didn't order any alcohol, starters, or dessert this time)
Other Information (not used for rating): -Use of plastic straws and Styrofoam take out containers isn't the most earth friendly choice -Coke products for soft drinks which had a high ratio of syrup and low ratio of carbonation -Service was average: not very friendly, but also attentive enough to refill my soft drink before I had to ask for one -Although we didn't order dessert this time, the selection looked good from what we saw on the menu and at the tables of those around us
Final Thoughts: I'm not sure we'll be going back due to the overall high prices and lack of seasoning we noticed across the 3 dishes we tasted (Mac and cheese, Grilled Reuben, and French Onion soup). I wanted to like the restaurant based on other reviews and the overall diversity in the menu, but flavor beats out all other categories in my reviews. If you want to stop by to watch a game, grab some drinks, and sit at the bar with bar food then this might be the place for you. I like restaurants that I can't wait to go back to because of the food I crave from there that I can't get anywhere else as good. Personally, Four Dogs Tavern is not that...
Read moreThe Rudest Manager We’ve Ever Encountered
After a fun day of tubing—something we do annually—we decided to stop by for food and drinks as usual. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a hostess who already had an unpleasant attitude. There were 12 of us, and our server, Kerry, showed visible signs of annoyance through her body language. She informed us the bill could only be split between four credit cards, which we were completely fine with.
When the check came, we organized our items into four separate groups based on who ordered what, ensuring each group paid for their own food and drinks. However, Kerry suddenly told us the bill had to be split into four equal parts—something that was not communicated at the beginning. Naturally, we felt this was unfair, since some people had ordered far more than others.
We asked to speak with the manager, Mark, whose approach was shockingly unprofessional. His attitude and body language were downright hostile. He outright refused to split the bill as we had requested. We explained we were more than willing to pay—just not in equal parts since it didn't reflect what each group ordered. Instead of working with us to resolve the situation, he pulled out his phone and called the police, falsely claiming we were refusing to pay. (The police never even showed up.)
To avoid further escalation, we ended up walking to the nearest ATM to withdraw enough cash to cover the bill, despite the unnecessary hassle. When we told him we would be leaving reviews about our experience, he flat-out said he didn't care about reviews.
In all honesty, this type of behavior has no place in the hospitality industry. We were respectful and tried to work toward a reasonable solution, but the management made it abundantly clear they weren’t interested in customer service. We won’t be returning—and neither will the many people we share this...
