I'd like to give this place a better if you because I think that there's a chance that we just came at the wrong time. The dining area was not clean. The salt shakers were empty and or sticky. The placemats had food on them. The tables we're not sturdy. from the counter you could see into the food prep area and it was highly disorganized and looked like it was not cleaned well. You could also see generic items bought at Walmart. Not the sort of ingredients I would expect. The food was also lacking. Aside from the plantains the flavor was not on par with what I was expecting. There were more bones and tendons and fat than meat in my goat. The lamb was tough and hard. The rice was clumpy and dried out. There were two people working at the time and while they were certainly friendly, there wasn't a lot of engagement given the fact we were the only patrons in the place. I will say that the jerk chicken wings were good, but not as spicy as you would expect if they're claiming to be authentic. No fountain drinks. No free water.$43 for two meals and an appetizer. Not necessarily a bad price point but definitely not worth what I ate. I wish this establishment all the best but they have some soul-searching to do if they are going to...
Read moreTried ordering three different times and, although I was charged for my order, I never got food.
The first time was through DoorDash. The store confirmed the order, but after an hour of us waiting (including our unfortunate dasher) the store inexplicably canceled the order.
A few days later, I tried ordering through their website. I gave them 24 hours in advance to allow for them to complete the order (the website allows you to pick a date and time for the order to be picked up) thinking they may have just been busy when I tried on DoorDash. When I arrived on the designated time, they said they did not have the order for me.
The third time took place right after they said they didn't have my order from the website order. I tried to order right there in the store and the lady said she was busy and walked away back into the kitchen. Not only did that mean I couldn't even order in person, but I now had to call my bank and cancel the charge from the online order instead of the restaurant helping me...
Read moreIt was our first time dining here, and also first time tasting African food. The place was small, informal, and cozy. The people there were very friendly and took the time to give us recommendations. We had jollof rice with goat (The rice was seasoned with a mild spicy flavor. We eat a lot of lamb at home but not goat. To me the meat tasted leaner and with a special flavor that lamb doesn't have.), fried rice with fried chicken (The fried rice was very good with a soy sauce flavor; the fried chicken was very good too.), and fried African yam chips with fried fish (It was great, to me it was like fried flour-coated taro sticks and I love taro.) All were big portions. The first two dishes were served with salad. It came down to just under $20 each. Once we placed the order we were told it would take 25min+ for the food to be cooked. It was indeed that which felt a bit long. Would like to be back and try a few other things...
