Dan's Place — Restaurant in West Greenwich

We visited Dan's Place in West Greenwich, RI on February 14th 2025, and it was an amazing experience. Our waitress Florida, she was great. So we decided to go back today, on March 8 2025. We arrived, and the hostess sat us in the booth as requested. Brianna the waitress, came to greet us , and she brought our beverages. She then came back to place our order, not writing our request down, my husband ordered a large Chicken Parm grinder, even pointing to it on the menu and I ordered grilled cheese with bacon and mashed potatoes. We ordered a small fry for our appetizers. The fries came , while we waited for our orders to arrive. The food came and my husband sandwich was not correct. I immediately advised Brianna this was not correct and she stated she heard my husband said chicken bomb. She was very agitated that we even question her. She took the incorrect sandwich back, and while we waited 20 minutes for the correct one to come back, it arrived and it was not even the large sized as ordered. She told us , that my husband's sandwich was taken for another patron so the kitchen gave my husband a small grinder, and would make another one to take home. I was almost done eating with my meal and was sad due to we went out to eat together our meals and that did not happen My husband took a bite of the grinder, and stopped to look inside, and was very upset at what he found, he did not see any breading on one side the chicken as it should have it. He was disgusted and upset that it did not even taste good. He stopped eating and requested the bill. Brianna brought us the bill as well as the other sandwich. We told her we did not want it and my husband went an bring the bill to the hostess to pay and she refused to take the money. My husband can back to the table, fuming and Brianna took the bill and the cash and brought our change back and the manager came over to speak with us with regards to the issue and we explained what happened and he did not seem to care, he was very combative to us. You know those days… you’re hanging out with friends and decide to go together somewhere to eat but can’t decide exactly Where to go?? That was me and my friends, until Dan’sPlace was mentioned. I’ve never been there, so That’s where we went! Settled on rt102, Victory Highway, right off of rt95 in West Greenwich RI, it is very easy to get to. They have a well rounded menu and decent prices. We ordered Dans Mac N Cheese, Chicken Tenders with Fries, hot Italian Grinder with Fries, and a Chocolate ice cream with whipped cream kind of dessert for the little one in the family. I didn’t know what to expect, but I was completely surprised to see our food when it was brought to our table! The Mac n Cheese was in a fairly big, oval shaped bowl with a crumbled cracker topping atop a creamy, cheesy sauce that was clinging onto every macaroni noodle like it was protecting it from the cold. Mouth watering!! And the Chicken Tenders were some of the biggest Ive seen. Juicy pieces of white chicken covered with a delicate breaded coating… Fried to perfection with a generous portion of fries nestled in another big oval shaped bowl, it was a delight for any chicken tenders lover anywhere. And that Hot Italian Grinder!! Dear Lord! It has to be the best grinder that’s ever been made anywhere! Loaded with the deli meats, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, cheese…. I can’t even put it into words! Quite simply, the best Italian Grinder to ever enter my belly! In fact, it was So Good that as it was being brought to our table, the patron in the table next to ours had asked the waitress what I ordered because it looked so good! There was a musician playing guitar in a smaller side room. He seemed to be playing his own twist on some popular, older songs. Entertaining, but not why we came to Dans Place. We frequently dine at Dan’s but won’t after today. We went for a quick lunch, we were greeted by our waitress who took our drink order and returned quickly with our beverages. She then asked if we were ready to order but we requested a couple extra minutes to look over the menu. She returned about ten minutes later and took our order. We sat there for forty minutes waiting for our food, when she returned she said “hey would you like the check?” I then said we didn’t even receive our food yet! Kelly then said let me go check on that, she came back blaming the kitchen. I asked how long and she said ten more minutes. The reality is she forgot to put our order in. About an hour later we received our food, she just dropped it and took off. I then had to go to the bar to request a refill for our drinks from the bartender who was very nice. As we are eating our son says to us “omg our waitress is falling asleep standing up.” I look over and she is having a nap while standing up, no joke. At this point she isn’t able to take care of her tables at all so another waitress comes over claiming Kelly has the stomach bug. First of all the stomach bug doesn’t excuse the fact that you forgot to put the order in and secondly if that’s true, you are handling peoples food with the stomach bug?
