I had a wonderful experience at Boilerhouse Prime and cannot wait to go back! I started out with the pecan-infused old fashioned, and for someone who enjoys a good bourbon cocktail this one was spot on. The selection of bourbons and other spirits available as well was very good. A few harder to find pours are available such as the Widow Jane Decadence that I enjoyed. Ordered the dry aged ribeye, cooked medium rare plus, and it was fabulous. I've been fortunate enough to dine at steakhouses all over the country, and it is awesome to be able to honestly say that the best steak I have had was here at Purdue! Lots of comparisons to St. Elmo on here, and those are appropriate. Boilerhouse Prime is every bit on that same level. I love the crust on their steak and had truffle butter to go with it which was excellent. I use St. Elmo as my measuring stick, and I'm going to Boilerhouse Prime over there if I am able! I typically walk away from steakhouses disappointed in my ribeye, as I prefer how I marinate and grill them at home. Not the case here, as the tenderness, flavor, and the oh-so-amazing crust is making my mouth water just thinking and typing about it. As mentioned, the bread is very good and comes uniquely presented. Had crab cake appetizer along with shrimp cocktail. Both outstanding! The crab cakes have been well described in other reviews, and I would certainly recommend them. As for the shrimp cocktail, the texture of the cocktail sauce was unique and really sets it apart from others. I prefer my cocktail sauce to be spicy (ala St. Elmo), and while theirs is not that hot it does have an appropriate level of kick to it. But the texture is what sets it apart! You just have to try it to see what I mean. For my side I had the mac and cheese, and it was very good. The noodles were not your typical shape, which was a nice touch and added to the more upscale experience. And the bread crumbles on the top gave a nice crunch to pair with the soft cheesy main portion. For dessert, I had the bourbon bread pudding, and I must say it was fantastic! Highly, highly recommend it! It was a delightful overall experience and there were soooo many other things on the menu that I wanted to try. Will definitely have to get back soon and start working on that list. To say I was impressed with the food would be an understatement. That steak was omg good and I don't have the adjectives to appropriately describe adequate praises.
Service was excellent and absolutely no complaints on that front.
Atmosphere was elegant, with low lighting and a medium sized dining room area. Gave me the feel of a very fine steakhouse but was not overwhelmingly large, either, which I liked. And I must mention the decor, as there are some very cool items on display on the walls. Some older pieces of Purdue memorabilia adorn spots on the side wall, appropriately enough since this new treasure of a steakhouse sits in the heart of Boilermaker country!
I will be going back to Boilerhouse Prime often, and look forward to trying so many of the other offerings that looked amazing going by to the tables around me. We have us an absolute treasure here in...
Read moreBoiler House Prime is quickly establishing itself as a standout fine dining destination in West Lafayette, and rightfully so. Perched atop Purdue University’s new clubhouse at the Brick Boilermaker Golf Complex, this new gem delivers not only incredible views but a level of service and cuisine that rivals the best in the region.
This visit marked our second time dining at Boiler House Prime, and once again, it exceeded all expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with exceptional hospitality. To our delight, we were seated at the exact same table we had during our first visit, a subtle, thoughtful touch that made the evening feel all the more personal and special. The staff even welcomed us back by name and remembered our previous order, a gesture that spoke volumes about their attention to detail and commitment to providing a tailored dining experience.
For our entrees, my partner chose the truffled bucatini, a rich, aromatic dish with perfect balance, while I opted for the “Boiler Up,” a stunning pairing of a lobster tail and a petite filet. Every bite was delicious, showcasing expert preparation and premium ingredients.
We ended the evening with what may be the best key lime pie I’ve ever tasted. Topped with an airy, lightly torched marshmallow fluff, it was the perfect sweet finish, refreshing, indulgent, and memorable.
While the food was superb, it was the service that truly elevated the experience. Our server, John, was phenomenal, knowledgeable, courteous, and incredibly professional. He guided us through the menu with ease and ensured that everything was timed and presented perfectly. Assisting him was Pablo, who not only kept our waters filled with quiet precision but also brought energy and personality to the table. His recommendations and warmth helped create a welcoming, lively atmosphere that made us feel right at home.
Boiler House Prime is a testament to what thoughtful hospitality and high-end dining can be. With impeccable service, elegant ambiance, and a menu that delivers in every way, it’s a 10/10 experience we’ll be returning to...
Read moreThis is a modern take on an old time high end steak house. It struck me as a place for well to do people to spend money in front of each other. The food is solid. The atmosphere is nice, though I found it to be a little much. But, the prices are high. Expect to pay $50-$80 for a plain steak with no sides. If your pain threshold is high enough, you can pay double that for Wagyu.
Our steaks were well prepared. The quality was good and they tasted good. We each got one side (which costs extra). Again, well-prepared.
Our table was right by the kitchen, so we were constantly listening to the chatter of staff coming in and out. Also, the staff kept coming by to ask if everything was alright. Perhaps some guests like the attention. I began to find the constant interruption annoying.
We had two steaks, two sides and two glasses of solid but unremarkable wine. With tip, the bill was about $240. A dinner for four with an appetizer, wine and dessert could easily be $700. We splurged to go there, but probably won't go back. I don't think we're the target audience.
I think the place will be a success. They meet the need for a high end restaurant with a familiar menu. The food is good, if pricey. It may be that they are just working through some growing pains. If you are willing to foot the bill, perhaps give it a try.
Edit: We were contacted today by the manager of Boilerhouse Prime. I do think they are working to refine the dining experience. Again, if the prices are OK with you, it might be...
