Staff was super friendly when my grandmother and I came in for high tea. The first issue I noticed though was that I made a reservation for high tea but they didn't seem to know that. High tea takes a little while to get ready and most places prepare things a head of time.
Through my first pot of tea I still had no food which I thought was very odd. The tea was fantastic but with no pairings it seemed incomplete. We then had to sit for a while with no tea and still no food. Most tea place I've been to for high tea have prepared things ahead of time for a more streamlined experience.
The high tea tower blocks the view of whomever you're sitting with which isn't great for conversation. Creme of potato soup was fantastic but I was disappointed with the amount of soup. Scones were super dry and didn't have any butter or sauce although the taste was good.
Chicken salad open face sandwich was pretty good although a little on the dry side. You pretty much have to eat it with a fork though. The roast beef cracker was pretty good although there was a hint of a stale flavor on the cracker. Cucumber sandwiches are usually better on pumpernickel bread.
The deserts were fairly good although unremarkable except the lemon bar which was phenomenal.
$50 for 2 high tea isn't a bad price. Overall, an average experience with very...
Read moreThe iced peach flower tea is delicious. The server (her name was either Gabrielle or Danielle, I have a bad memory with names) was sweet. She checked on us a few times, but also gave my sister and I enough space so that we could chat. All staff wore masks, and tables were spread out far enough that I felt comfortable. My sister and I opted to eat outside, under their covered front porch. We watched as a gentle rain passed by, completely untouched. It was lovely. The food was also good... food choices were surprisingly diverse for a tea shop, and there were plenty of both light and hearty options (i.e. I could've easily brought my Dad here and he could've picked something he would've liked.) I had a beef rib sandwich with lettuce, tomatoe, and mozzarella which came with a side of waffle-cut sweet potato fries... my sister had an apple chicken salad, and we both had some leftovers. Nom!! They also had the tea sandwich towers that other shops have, but the foods they serve on them are quite frankly unique. We didn't get one, but I'd happily go...
Read moreI'm starting this review with one of my favorite quotes: "If you have no expectations, you'll have no disappointments." The menu advertised the tea as "high tea." Historically, high tea is not a fancy affair, and there was indeed a twist to this experience. My server, Mya, was lovely and quite attentive, but I have to deduct one star due to the long wait for the tiered food presentation after receiving the tea. By the time the food arrived, I was more than halfway through my pot of tea. In fact, I had finished the pot before even starting on the sweets. While the food was decent overall, I must mention that the meatball marinara soup was overly salty. On the positive side, the environment was charming, the staff was friendly, and the food was enjoyable, albeit with some quirks. For those accustomed to traditional afternoon teas, be prepared for some surprises. For example, you might encounter mozzarella sticks, scones served without clotted cream or lemon curd, and open-faced sandwiches instead of the usual fare. All in all, I would...
