We were just driving around enjoying the day and decided to find a place for lunch. I checked maps and this place popped up, neither of us had heard of it, but the reviews were good and the pictures were great. The place was almost full when we arrived. We sat at the lunch counter and ordered, then asked to move to a table when one opened and they quickly accommodated us. I went with the country fried steak breakfast with eggs, hash browns and toast. I asked for the hash browns crispy and they were damn near perfect. The eggs and steak were absolutely delicious as well. Most people don't talk about toast but this was the perfect shade and loaded with butter. My partner originally wanted a breakfast burrito but switched to a soup/sandwich combo once she saw another person eating soup. She had their chicken/dumpling soup and a chicken salad sandwich. She said the soup was amazing and she ate it so quickly I couldn't get a picture. I will say it looked good and I don't even like chicken/dumplings. Her chicken salad looked delicious and tasted even better she said. It was a very generous...
Read moreThis was our first time here. They didn't have handicap parking. I recommend getting a burger there. I got the bacon burger deluxe platter with fries and coleslaw. It was good. The burger was pretty delicious. I do not recommend the philly cheese steak at all. My mom got it, and it was not good. We had the younger waitress with the blonde hair. She was not very personable. She hurried away so fast as I was trying to ask for napkins. She didn't even hear me or give eye contact. She forgot my slaw and kind of got aggravated when I asked for it. Then I asked for a slice of apple pie to go, and she seemed even more aggravated. And I overheard her telling the cook she had to get two things and then she said, "and now I have to get an apple pie to go". She also seemed like she was rushed, but there was another waitress there helping, and there were 14 customers, including us. I will go back and try it again. And make sure that I get the other waitress. The mid aged waitress was very pleasant and helpful. She was calm and sweet and good with...
Read moreSolid, old school diner. Probably what the Waffle House was before it became a massive chain. Small place, maybe 10-15 counter seats, five or six booths and four or five tables. Daily specials and a decent menu with breakfast served anytime. Kitchen area is directly on the other side of the counter, you can watch the cook do his thing. Handwritten daily specials on the blackboard.
My Spicy Puppy burger was excellent - loved the spicy sauce that was on it - and my crinkle cut fries were perfect. They stayed hot almost the entire time I was eating my burger. The wife grilled turkey was very good as well and her tater tots were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Wait staff was excellent, stayed on top of things and very friendly even though we were very obviously not regulars. Certainly an off-the-beater-path local place.
If you like diners and are in the area, this...
