East Garden Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in West Orange

This used to be our go to for Chinese food but for the third and final time, we’re done here. I understand with “shrinkflation” everyone is getting less for more, but this was ridiculous. None of the food ordered this evening had any taste and the portions are pointless for what you pay for. 4 people, and everyone said the same thing - dumplings had zero taste, chow mein was all onions, general tao chicken? We actually counted 11 pieces of chicken. Egg rolls, are nothing but cabbage - they used to have even tiny pieces of meat? Nothing now - and even the cabbage was skimpy. I’ve never seen FLAT EGG ROLLS. Pathetic, I understand everyone’s menus have “Extra this and that” for essentially what we where getting before? But spices, ginger in dumplings are a basic. Get your act together - this isn’t the first time in the previous few months this has happened. End result, a lot of money was spent and food was below mediocre.

UNFORTUNATELY need to downgrade this review from the previous: Favorite Chinese restaurant in West Orange and absolutely delicious and fast food! Easily place your order in store, over the phone, or online and the food is prepared fresh every time. We use this as our regular location and love the food!

To this: Late order (25 minutes late for online order and the restaurant is under 2 minutes from the house). With a newborn, we cannot travel out of the house, and the service is EXTREMELY poor and UNACCEPTABLE. We love this restaurant, but may choose somewhere that delivers on time going forward. I have tried this restaurant over and over because of how close it is to me but I think I am finally done. Their food is so inconsistent. One time I will get something and it will be really good and the next time I will get the same thing again and it will be terrible. The most recent thing I tried was the boneless spare ribs and pork fried rice. The boneless spare ribs were absolutely disgusting . They were soggy and I can’t even put the taste of them into words. They had a very odd taste, they were not sweet and just tasted so different from all the Chinese restaurants I ever tried. I literally threw the boneless spare ribs out. The pork fried...
