It's been a long journey with many disappointments along the way, In my attempt to find what I would regard as a great representation of Hatian cuisine. I'm pleased to say "this is it". My initial impressions of the establishment as I walked in was less than enthusiastic. In fairness this was largely due to the modest furnishings and sparse appearance. That being said the place was clean and comfortablely approachable. As a rule when sampling a new restaurant, If I am fortunate enough to be greeted by the owner or chef, I insist that they provide their recommendations of the noteworthy or signature items on the menu. In this case the owner, a pleasant and quite confident gentleman enthusiastically reeled off several items before finally saying with a smile " I'm confident you'll enjoy everything!" Hey, say less! I proceeded to order everything he recommended...Lambi, Meatballs, Conch fritters, and more..The long and short of it.. As promised everything was very good. Each dish was uniquely seasoned and prepared perfectly. It's quite evident that the cook has drive and passion. That being said, my one objective criticism would be that they work to improve the presentation of thier dishes by utiliizing appropriate containers that are also visually appealing. This would go a long way in providing justice to the great food contained inside....
Read moreIm not even a person to make reviews unless something is REALLY good or REALLY BAD. I get stew chicken for any Haitian food spot that I’m trying for the first time and this one was the worst. It was like low quality ingredients. That black rice was either rushed or they had a dummy in the kitchen that day. The chicken taste like it was mainly only seasoned with creole seasoning mixed with water basically. I know what creole seasoning taste like. I knew something was off when the color of the sauce and chicken didn’t catch my eye after opening the plate. This maybe be the only Haitian cuisine spot I ever been to that doesn’t open the plate in front of you while bagging it so you can check your food, especially if you’re in front of them. They knew better. The dark skinned guy with glasses at the front was nice tho. It’s not his fault, he didn’t cook it. I was very disappointed, didn’t even halfway finish the plate. We had bubble guts that night too… I don’t think I’m...
