First of all im an avid diner lover its my main love for dining. I cant stand the fancy places that give you no food for high prices so diners are my go to place. Me and my mom stopped by this morning to eat and when i walked in it looked like the 70's in full with nothing really updated. Which is OKAY if the food is up to date. Its clear to tell the clientel on arrival was mostly seniors which is fine but when you cook crap food you lose the young customers. Personally i got 2 orders of breakfast i got pancakes and sausage and eggs with hash browns
Food wise: the pancakes were from a bag mix and had a texture like cement, the sausage had a very clear smoke ring which i appreciated but the consistency was not there 1 was regular size the other was some limp little pee-wee sausage the flavor was good though although it suspiciously tasted like venison which was not listed on the menu... The eggs were clearly not made to order they were like rubber and the hash browns also were cold and had indication of a good hot grill hit them, yet when i got them no steam was coming from my plate... Clearly everything is not made to order and from a can. The "wheat toast" is white and it was hard to get over having an $10 breakfast with no flavor that was cold.
My mom got the tuna melt and fries, she seemed to be a little underwhelmed with the frozen crinkle cut fries and the melt it looked dry and the sandwich was not well prepped' Our waiter seemed very nice until the check came and we noticed some issues she did check on us multiple times before the check issue. She rang us up for drinks we did not drink and the prices were DIFFERENT than on the menu. When we called her over to see the problem she was responsive and got management. Than we were told the prices were correct and that even though we substituted a side dish we were charged for a full side of fries even though she did not receive her actual chips that she paid for ... After the big let down of a meal she redid our check Not a apology or anything she toke out money and walked away and had another employee handle us and i found that to be very rude no accountability what so ever
WOULD NOT BOTHER COMING BACK WE DROVE 30 MINUTES FOR AN EXPERIENCE AND BOY DID WE GET ONE... just not...
Read moreI don’t order out much and the few times I have got breakfast from here has been disappointing. They make some of the best cream of beef in town and there food was always good before which is why I would order through them. This is now the fourth order they have made wrong and it’s pathetic. If I was ordering something intricate or difficult to make I would understand the mess ups. But when I order a breakfast sandwich without egg and with sausage and bacon and you forget the bacon that’s pretty bad. And when you serve cream of beef and the cream of beef is separated that’s not good either. What’s also pretty disgusting is when you order hashbrowns and they don’t give the hashbrowns enough time to cool off before putting it in the Styrofoam so it melts through. I also asked to get peppers and onions in my eggs like Spanish style eggs for another breakfast sandwich in which they just plopped a heaping amount of fried onions and finally minced peppers on top of it. Not mixed in mind you, which they do offer as in other meals. I paid $16 for two breakfast sandwiches and I left a four dollar tip to come home and find us. It’s now far too frequent for the few times that I order from them that I no longer will be providing them any business bc they clearly don’t care about quality checking. It’s a simple breakfast sandwich it’s not rocket science it’s not difficult. And no amount of Covid talk or convince me that this is ok. I’ve been in the restaurant business and it’s not hard to follow instructions and if you have problems with that get the out of the kitchen. At least wawa can make it right...
Read moreHave been going to the Roy Ann for 40 years. The service is always excellent. The dining room area is very crowded: tables too close together and you can't help but bump the chair behind you at the other table. The tables are small and grouped together ... which means gaps, extra table legs in the way and wobbling. So we eat in the original dining area at a booth.
Remember the days when people were even lined up outside to get in? Those days are gone because, I think, the prices have increased dramatically. I understand price increases, but comparatively speaking, Roy Ann's prices are higher than other diners and there haven't been any modern upgrades at all.
The food is still good with a variety of vegetable offerings including real mashed potatoes. The portions are perfect for me, but my husband and other guys say the portions are measly and they leave hungry.
I love the old-time servers who are very attentive, but honestly, we pay almost twice as much for our meals at Roy Ann when compared to Plain and Fancy in Quakertown, The Coopersburg Diner and the Country Inn.
We only go to Roy Ann occasionally out of loyalty to the owner and great employees. Maybe it's because my parents took us there as kids and my own kids grew up going to the Roy Ann because it was affordable.
Now it's just my retired husband and I and we can't afford the $45 cost for a diner for two. Love you Roy Ann diner, but I hope you'll either reduce your prices or modernize your...
