I spend most Sunday mornings with fellow parents and kids enjoying the The Wonder Grove's Wiggleworms play group. And I've been watching for months as Emile's started being built.
FINALLY! It's here!!!! happy dance I managed to ditch work long enough this morning to run over to Emile's and boy am I glad I did! What a beauty and a wonderful addition to West Sac.
I enjoyed the clean farmhouse aesthetic. Warm and cozy, it doesn't feel too sterile, especially with the outdoor seating in front and back that sits next to a nice green space with trees. They serve Temple coffee (yay) and pastries. My favorite this morning was the ham and cheese croissant. The cold brew was strong and if I had more time I would have sat down to enjoy my morning like so many others were. The service was friendly and welcoming. They are still finding their rhythm a little but they were quick and kind.
There is a parking lot with plenty of spots, but it was packed around 10 on a weekday. So be forewarned, they WILL get full on the weekends. You can probably find parking on a residential street nearby but there are no street spots. Unfortunately, I'm not close enough to walk there otherwise I'd be making a permanent groove in one of the chairs with my daily visits. Prices were on par if not a little less than places like Temple.
Since moving across the river to West Sac, I feel a real absence of good cafe culture. My go to spots were Tupelo or the Temple on H. And Franquette is lovely, but seating is limited and I dislike having to pay for waiting 15 mins for coffee and a pastry. PLEASE support this incredible family owned business- a family who has had an integral and historical role in this city's development. I hope they consider opening a second location on the other side of town near me...
Read moreEmile’s is exactly the kind of place you hope to find in your neighborhood but rarely do. It's clean, intentional, and actually delivers on the things most places just pretend to care about.
I had the peach and ricotta toast and a cardamom latte. Both were excellent. The toast was simple but elevated. Whipped ricotta on thick-sliced toast with perfectly ripe peaches and just enough honey to bring it together. The latte was made with their cardamom syrup, which they actually make in-house; not something you see often, and it shows. The flavor was smooth and balanced. Not overly sweet, not too heavy-handed on the spice. Just right.
Their pastries are brought in fresh daily from Firebrand Bakery in Oakland, and the case was full of things I actually wanted to eat. The space inside is bright and well-organized, with subtle design choices that feel more like someone cared than someone tried to be trendy. Outside, the shaded patio blends right into the surrounding trees, and it doesn’t feel overdone or artificial. It just works.
Location-wise, it’s perfectly placed. It's connected directly to the Newport Estates neighborhood and sits right next to Heritage Oaks Park. That means a lot of local families can walk here, and the adjacent playground makes it easy to bring your kids without stress. It’s a place that fits into real life.
What stood out most was how grounded the whole experience felt. Nothing flashy, just quality thoughtful food, thoughtful service, and a physical space that respects the people who show up. I'll...

Today we discovered a new gem in Sacramento — Emile’s Cafe, and it truly impressed us! 🌿
One of the biggest advantages is that this place is brand new — everything feels fresh, clean, and thoughtfully designed. It’s a cultured, welcoming space that immediately puts you in a good mood.
Another wonderful surprise is the back patio. Even on a hot day, it felt cool and breezy — almost like stepping into a forest. Tall trees surround the area, and you feel as if you’ve escaped the city and are sipping coffee somewhere in nature. 🍃
We ordered cappuccinos and pastries, and they were delicious! ☕🥐 The cappuccinos were served in proper mugs (not paper cups), which added to the homey vibe. There’s a nice selection of fresh pastries, and if you’re hungry, they also have a menu with real food.
Restroom is available — just ask for the key.
Even though it’s a new spot, the café was already buzzing with people when we visited. Seems like it’s becoming a local favorite among neighbors and coffee lovers alike!
Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for something peaceful, green, and refreshing. It’s not just coffee — it’s an experience. 🌞✨
