I’m a local semi driver when I’m not bartending on the weekends. I transport up and down California. Today my load brought me to west Sacramento. I ordered an Oatmilk & Honey Latte🍯 and it was better than expected. As I sat outside to sip the man that made my latte came to me with a cup of honey cold foam he had whipped up and asked if I would like him to add it to my drink and oh my goodness let me tell you just as I didn’t think my latte could get any better my latte went from already amazing to fabulous to my taste. This place definitely knows their coffee. I loved how he came to explain to me that oatmilk and whole milk don’t have the same consistency so the science that goes behind making those beautiful decorative designs in the latte wouldn’t be achieved to its full potential. I was fine with it though because I love my latte with oatmilk and honey.
My load took me 7minutes away from this place. It typically takes anywhere from 4-7 hours to be unloaded. I looked up the nearest Starbucks and the closest ones would lead me to have to cross over the Sacramento River or to have to cross...
Read moreI've driven past this place a number of times, so decided to pop in this morning for a bite. It's more of a deli than a café, so you've got your pre-made sandwiches, some pastries, and smoothies for sale. They also have a breakfast and lunch menu that is surprisingly extensive. But, the expression "too many cooks in the kitchen" comes to mind. It's a small prep space - I saw a panini press and a microwave. Maybe they have a griddle back there somewhere. In any event, a place that is so heavily microwave reliant is already having to make up for lost ground. Topping that off, I saw no fewer than four people scrambling around each other, plating food at a glacial pace.
I had the unremarkable Café panini. It was okay. Nothing special. My kids each had a sandwich. One had a breakfast bagel (prepared in the microwave); the other had a cold turkey sandwich. Standard fare. Lastly, my wife had the Italian omelette, which she enjoyed.
In the end, it wasn't a bad dining experience. I was simply not presented with anything that would compel me to drive to the outskirts of West...
Read moreI really, really wanted to like this place because I would’ve loved to support a local business but…I can’t. I’ve come in three times, each time hoping I’ll be proven wrong but the food just isn’t good. They don’t seem to have a kitchen so I’m not exactly sure how they’re preparing their food. The food is ready way too quickly to be fresh. The quality of the food is not good and neither are the flavors. The staff has always been polite when I’ve gone so there is that. This last time marks my last visit. This time I opted to try the tri tip mac and cheese and wow it was a nightmare. The meat was gross and somehow even the mac and cheese (the easiest thing to make) was an immense disappointment. It tasted gluey and like it had come from a box. I would’ve been better off going to Nugget and having their mac and cheese. Not sure how they have such a high star rating,...
