Rodrigo’s Mexican restaurant in Harbor Springs is an absolute gem. This small, family-owned spot serves some of the most authentic Mexican food we’ve ever had—and that’s saying something. We’ve lived in Texas and California for 20 years, and I’m originally from New Mexico, so our standards are high. Rodrigo’s exceeded them all.
We tried the carnitas fajitas, steak tostada, guacamole, and the rice soup—every dish was flavorful, fresh, and clearly made with love. The guacamole was perfectly seasoned, the carnitas were tender and savory, and the rice soup was a comforting surprise.
What makes this place even more special is the atmosphere. You’ll find family members working the restaurant, adding a warm and personal touch to the whole experience. It’s located in an unassuming area, but the scenic drive from Petoskey makes it even more worth the visit.
If you’re in the area, do not skip this place. You’ll regret not making it part of your trip. Rodrigo’s is a true standout and deserves to be on every food...
Read moreThis was hands down one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve ever been too, including from Mexico itself! The salsa and chips have great flavor (good cilantro, tomato, onion, and pepper/heat balance). We had the chicken rice soup to start and it was sooo good! It’s a broth-based soup with lots of shredded chicken and rice, served with a healthy dollop of sour cream and a generous slice of avocado. For dinner, I had flour enchiladas stuffed with chicken. I couldn’t decide between the red or the green sauce, so I had both! If we weren’t traveling, I would have saved some for later! The service was outstanding and I heard people ordering some yummy sounding margaritas! Very pleasant atmosphere too! If you are looking for a truly satisfying meal and are maybe considering pizza or burgers instead, I beg you to try...
Read moreUpdate from July 2023: we came in for finner for 3. Service was exemplary. Food was terrific as always.
July 2022: We came here as a family of 6 for an early dinner. The host was very accommodating and fit us in. After 5 minutes no one had greeted us, brought us waters, or provided menus. We had to ask multiple people before waters were brought. It took about 30 minutes for us to get our drinks and orders taken. Over the next 40 minutes, we watched all the other tables receive their food, even tables that were seated 45 minutes after us. When we asked about our order, we were told that ours was more complicated than those other tables. (We ordered tostados). We were not comped anything for our wait and the poor service. I am giving it 2 stars because the food was very good but the service was too poor to warrant a...
