I am giving the best restaurant, service, hospitality, enthusiasm and professional courtesy taward of honor to Dockside Grille and if I could give it 500 I would. Along with a heart felt apology. I sincerely regret my actions. I have been to the Dockside grille five times as this is my favorite place when I am in beautiful Los Angeles. I mean Morgantown (each of them look like a Hollywood icon or a fitness model). I love this place. The management and the food and the location and the atmosphere are unmatched in this part of the state. I wrote a review a few months ago and rather than edit it or delete it I would like to offer a separate review which serves to highlight my regrets. All five times that I arrived the place had a good amount of customers enjoying themselves with abundant sunshine. A brilliant wind creating the most magnificent lukewarm breeze. It is absolutely thrilling. I arrive everytime I'm in town for the next dining adventure and am pleasantly greeted with a smile, I'm told welcome back Robert and then I sit down and I order a salad and four out of the five times I have been there the flood gates open and within minutes the Dockside staff is grabbing everything outside and running inside dropping ketchup and mustard while guests flee for their lives because suddenly we look like we're on the movie set for the film Titanic which at 4 hours in length is not as long as this review. I am always drenched when I am there and unlike the movie Titanic,Kate Winslet is not there to save me. I feel so responsible because every time I come the staff is told they can go ahead and leave because suddenly who the hell is there to wait on. The first time I was here there were about 15 people on the staff waiting on the tables and as soon as I sat down 10 of them were saying can I go home. This is right at the time the state reopened allowing people out of entrapment. I mean quarantine. For myself social distancing obviously has not ceased. I arrived again today accompanied with brilliant weather having gone to the botanical gardens experiencing a wonderful tour and then within 5 minutes 2 miles away at this restaurant God decided to have a mood swing and thrash cheat Lake to mimic Noah's ark. I must give shout outs to the most incredible waitstaff. What is interesting to me because I travel throughout the United States constantly is that so many people are now back at work seeking employment because the government has decided to stop patting them with benefits that outweigh most industries. As a result of this people are back to work and a good percentage are in a horrible mood because they don't want to clock in after lounging with Netflix for a year and an occasional tik Tok comment. Not at this place. The grace and the charm and the hospitality and enthusiasm is off the chart. I salute and acknowledge the new manager Matt who is dynamic in personality and service. I swear this guy is the best in the business that I have met in years. I want to thank Riley and Nick and Michael who all had turns with me receiving their awesome service yet unfortunately they were my victims. Lol. I want to thank Malay, Kaya, Kenzie, Paige, Sarah, Kailee, and Brad Pitt for an awesome time. I hope when I return in the future to call in advance letting you know I'm coming so those of you who are working can take the day off as I am sure God will serve me a Caesar salad the best in town along with hail sleet and rain and possibly strike the deck with lightning bolts. (Let people think that Brad Pitt was there, it'll be good to draw customers). LOL. God bless you all. You always make my visit to West Virginia a story to...
Read moreWe came to Dockside for the first time. We ordered crab boils and salmon plates. They were delicious! The big downside was that when we received our crab boils, we had nothing to crack them with. When we asked the servers for crab leg crackers, they came back from the kitchen and said âpeople have been stealing them, so we only have 1 in the dishwasher right nowâ & âwhile we wait for an order of more to come inâ. We were offered knives and ended up having to work with forks to crack the crab. We paid $36 per crab boil and thought they would at least make sure to have the basic utensils to eat it. At the end of our meal we asked to speak to the manager and just wanted to communicate that we should have been told when we ordered about not having the proper utensils to eat our food with, so the servers would not have to take the blame for that. His response: He told us they had to throw away the crab leg crackers⊠(contradicting what 2 servers were sent out earlier to tell us) and more were ordered already. When I let him know that his reasoning was different from the serversâ reasoning, he said âoh well throwing them awayâŠ.. same differenceâ. The manager also said, âI also really wasnât aware that we didnât have anyâ. We were satisfied with our food and the location, but disappointed in the lack of communication and transparency and what came off as lying from the manager to us. If you had âno ideaâ you didnât have any, how were you aware there was a shipment coming? We were also disappointed that the manager did not come speak to us when he first heard there were unhappy customers & he could have taken responsibility for the mishap, but instead shrugged it off, claimed he wasnât aware, and gave us a small discount. Our group is never one that has complained to a manager before, but this just felt unorganized and a...
Read moreI came from out of town to visit some family in West Virginia and while we decided to go to lunch before I had to catch a flight out, we decided to try out this place. It was a very hot day last week and we had to get parking validation. The guy in the golf cart that is supposed to be driving to your car to give you parking validation instead sat in the middle of the parking lot in the golf cart and everyone walk over to him in about 100° weather. Why are you sitting in a cart wheels if you cannot drive over and make it easier for guests visiting your restaurant? I ordered the salad with the side of shrimp. The shrimp tasted pretty bad and the service was something youâd expect at a McDonaldâs. The waitress seemed annoyed the entire time, forgot silverware and some other items and when we asked for that stuff she didnât say a word , instead took her time getting back to us and acted very dismissive and super bland personality. Likely due to being so young and immature. Lastly, please the restroom on our way out and there were womenâs undergarments left in the bathroom and the bathroom was disgusting. I realize it is a dockside restaurant and there is a shower so I didnât expect it to be pristine but why are there used womenâs underwear left in the bathroom and no one is keeping up with that?? The only good thing I could say about this place was the location . Beautiful dock side atmosphere and this place...
