L & R Custom Catering — Restaurant in West Virginia

Me and my husband of color walked in and I was asked do I want to sit next to the fire, I said yes and thank you. As I was walking to get to the next room with the fire, I seen a Rebel flag hanging along the wall, I hesitated and was going to turn around and walk out but decided to stay as me and my husband seen other flags like POW and a few others I can't recall, only because the rebel flag was fresh in my mind. I understand that the rebel flag means different things to different people, but as a woman of color it means promotion of slavery to me. I wanted to be opened minded about what was the meaning, to the owner of the establishment, but again was reluctant. I was in no way mistreated at the restaurant, and the food was very good. If you love BBQ, you must come to this place. I got the pork and mac & cheese, and the pork is so tender and so flavorful. Perfectly cooked meat. I’m assuming they make their own homemade barbecue sauce, and it is so very good. I like it almost as much as sweet baby rays.

The only things I don’t like, they don’t give you enough sauce. However I got the barbecue plate and that might not be something that applies to a sandwich. Also an extra barbecue sauce cup is only $.50, so it’s not a big deal.

I attended a school reunion picnic in Valley Park today. The event was catered by L&R BBQ in Hurricane.

The food was fantastic and far better than I had anticipated. They served bbq pork, bbq chicken with buns and slaw. The sides were green beans, mac&cheese, macaroni salad, potato salad, and baked beans. Outside of a spoonful of beans, and a bite of chicken, everything was consumed by a group of hungry classmates, which speaks volumes for the quality and taste of the food L&R supplied.

If you are in need of a terrific catered meal, I cannot think of anyone that will do a better job than L&R BBQ and Catering...
