A Roadside Respite: Why the Omelet Shoppe is a West Virginia Gem
For those traversing the Mountain State or locals seeking a satisfying start to their day, the Omelet Shoppe emerges as a beacon of breakfast brilliance, conveniently accessible and consistently delicious. While some may jest it's West Virginia's answer to Waffle House, I found the Omelet Shoppe to be a decidedly more delightful experience, offering a culinary embrace that elevates simple diner fare to something truly memorable.
The moment you peruse the menu, it's clear this is a place that understands and celebrates the art of breakfast. From fluffy, perfectly cooked waffles that brought a smile to my face, to impeccably prepared eggs that speak to a kitchen that cares, the Omelet Shoppe delivers on its promises. My own plate of waffles and eggs was a testament to their commitment to quality – each bite a perfect harmony of texture and taste.
But the offerings extend far beyond this classic pairing. Imagine a dizzying array of omelet combinations, packed with fresh ingredients, or the comforting allure of golden biscuits and savory gravy. For those craving something more substantial, the menu unfolds further, revealing options like classic Eggs Benedict, a variety of hearty breakfast sandwiches, and a full lunch spread. This later carte du jour features everything from juicy burgers and crisp salads to the down-home satisfaction of country fried steak, ensuring that no appetite goes unanswered, no matter the time of day.
Indeed, the Omelet Shoppe often serves as a welcome sight for travelers and locals alike, offering a warm meal and friendly service around the clock in its locations. It’s a place where you can settle into a comfortable booth and enjoy a meal that feels both familiar and exceptionally well-crafted. So, the next time your journey takes you through West Virginia, or a breakfast craving strikes, seek out the Omelet Shoppe. It’s more than just a meal; it’s a taste of West Virginia hospitality at its finest, proving that a great breakfast can indeed set the tone for a...
Read moreThis one’s been a long time coming and honestly makes me sad, because 99% of the time the service is great. I come in often enough, as this place is on my patrol route. Is the food mediocre at best sometimes? Absolutely. But the convenience and service has always made up for this. Not anymore. We both work long, late hours and at times, this is the best option for us. The experience I had tonight was just laughable. They were NOT busy, and we did NOT dine in. We placed an order over phone because we just got done work, we were hungry and just wanted to go home. From the time I placed the order, the experience was already bad. Whomever took my order just before 4am this morning was very rude. I told her to take her time and stayed polite, as we are regulars here. The total was $28.95- super. He wanted french toast, oatmeal, and hashbrowns. i got an omelette, hashbrowns, toast. Then we came to pick it up. We were the only customers. Not one person greeted us, but we did get stared at and looked at like we had an extra head on our shoulders. We’re not the drunks that come in here late at night, we are hungry blue collar workers who had rough days. The first thing that was even SAID to me was my total… extremely rude. Normally, I tip VERY well, which my regular waitresses know well. But considering we didn’t dine in, and the service was AWFUL, I gave an even $30. I’m glad I tipped poorly and broke my cardinal rule, because when we got home, the french toast was almost insulting.
And also, we could tell they were talking shit on the tip. Pick a different job or learn to give excellent service, otherwise this line of work isn’t for you. We spend a TON of money here and this might be the last time I show my face (OR wallet) in this place. The food quality, service, and quality of the wait staff has declined generously. I tried to post a picture of this laughable french toast, but it wouldn’t let me. Hmm, wonder why? I guess they don’t want pictures of the regular occurrence of BS...
