Previously would have rated this place 5 stars on food alone. 1 star after my in person and phone experience today. Long story short, I called in to place a to go order for 2 Spicy California Rolls. Told them I would be going to Food Lion and would be right over, they said okay 15 minutes. When I got there and tried to pay with card, the girl asked me if I had cash. I said no, I never carry that, but I have another card if it isn't going through. She said their internet is down and asked if I could wait a few minutes. I say sure no problem, as I stand there with 3 grocery bags full of cold items in hand, staring at my small bag of to go food on the counter in front of me. Another woman comes up and says, "I know this isn't convenient, but can you go make a purchase at Food Lion, get cash back, and then come back and pay us?" I immediately say no. To which she replies, "oh is the internet down there too?" I said, "No I paid just fine there, but I literally was just there, already made my purchases, I have cold food, and I am not going back." And I walked out. I contemplated my feelings and called back when I got home. I asked to speak to a manager, which was the second woman to speak to me in person, who asked me to walk to food lion. After we clarified that you do in fact need to make a purchase to get cash back and that it does not work like an ATM, I asked her if it was worth it to their business, to lose returning customers over $10, when the reason payment could not be made was the businesses fault. She said after I left, that her manager told her they should have written down my card info, to which I said I would NEVER leave like that. Nor should any sane person who cares about their financial security. However, if they would've offered to call me when the internet came back on to pay over the phone, and let me take my food when they told me to pick it up while I was standing there, that would have been just fine. Ultimately, I was wantinf her to agree that it's a bad business practice to make the customer be at fault for the business not having internet over some freaking California rolls I could grab at a grocery store. Guess they'll enjoy their snack over returning customers. Bummer, because this is the only Asian food worth a damn...
Read moreMy experience at Red Lantern a few nights ago was beyond disappointing, from the terrible service to the subpar food. The manager, who seemed like a psychotic control freak, she made the whole dining experience unbearable. Multiple customers, including myself, could see her freaking out and yelling at staff in full view of everyone. It was incredibly uncomfortable and chaotic, clearly a reflection of how poorly this place is run. The food was just as bad, everything was drenched in oil and coated with a bland brown sauce that made every dish taste the same. The egg rolls were tasteless, with a baby shrimp cut in half. For a restaurant that charges extra for everything, the portions were laughably small. I paid an extra $8 for additional meats and vegetables in my dish, but what I received barely amounted to $2 worth. It’s obvious this restaurant is just trying to squeeze every penny from their customers while delivering as little as possible. The manager has no issue charging customers extra and delivering less than what’s paid for, but you can bet they won’t let you be a cent short when it comes to the bill. The stinginess and lack of customer service here are appalling. Whoever is running the show now clearly has no idea what theyre doing and is running the place just milking their clueless customers. It’s obvious this business thrives on taking advantage of clueless customers who have never really experienced good food. The only good thing I’ll say about this place is that they have Japanese bottled soda which is hard to find around these areas but then again I can order that online and save myself a disappointing experience. Other than that, it’s a...
Read moreCheap Chinese and even cheaper service. Today I had the worst customer service I have ever received there. I went in to order Chicken Lo Mein with no veggies and white rice. A man took my order as Chow Mein and rang in a double order. He hardly spoke English so I just told him to make it one order and I'll take the chow Mein instead. Then his wife comes up to have me pay and he leaves. She asks "lo Mein or chow Mein? People get them confused" so I said lo Mein and she ran back to change it. Not even 5 min later the food is ready (so I assume it's not very fresh). I get home and open the bag. The lo Mein has veggies and I received brown rice with veggies as well. I called to see if I could have it switched to the right order. The woman got defensive and said "excuse me? you didn't say no veggies. That's not my fault." And I insisted both me and the woman I was with heard me say no veggies, I told her I said it to the man and not her. She huffed and said she'd be right back. She came back and said "my husband didn't hear it. I guess come back and we'll fix it but this isn't our fault." I was getting tired of her attitude and said I just wanted a refund and to take my business elsewhere. She replied with "uh no, this isn't our fault we won't give you a refund. You should have ordered correctly. We will give you other food but no refund." Before hanging up I said "I'm sorry. But this is not how you should treat a customer. You try to fix the problem any way you can and do not blame them. It's safe to say I won't return and will spread the word. You are incredibly disrespectful." Safe to say I'm...
