This was my second time at Marblehead, and I have to say it’s probably one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. The food was incredible and the service was just as impressive. One of the big reasons we came back was because of our amazing experience last year. We had a fantastic server named Stephanie, and to our surprise, she remembered us and we had her again!!!!! That alone made the night feel extra special.
Last time, her service stood out so much that it stuck with us all year. She was so attentive and made my boyfriend’s birthday feel really memorable. I brought a cake with candles, and she offered to keep it in the fridge, took photos of us, and made us feel genuinely welcomed. She’s warm, down to earth, and created such a personal, thoughtful experience. She also knows the entire menu inside and out and gave us excellent food recommendations both times. She absolutely deserves a raise!
This time, we ordered two appetizers: the steamed clams and lobster pierogies, both for a total of $10. I don’t know any other place that offers something like that. For our main dishes, we got the shrimp with lobster fried rice and the surf and turf. Both meals were incredible, and we couldn’t believe we actually finished everything. Here’s how I’d rate each item:
Steamed Clams: 9.8/10 We got the garlic sauce, which was super buttery. We used it to dip the bread too, and it was absolutely heavenly.
Lobster Pierogies: 9.67/10 The sauce was hot and reminded me of mac and cheese in the best way. I expected the pierogies to be dry since they looked fried, but they were moist and flavorful. The filling was just as good as the outside.
Shrimp with Lobster Fried Rice: 7.8/10 This was flavorful and had real chunks of lobster meat. The only downside was that the shrimp was a bit sweet for my taste. It reminded me of Chinese takeout, but it was still very good overall.
Texas Surf and Turf: 8.5/10 The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and the shrimp had a smoky grilled flavor that was perfect. I’m honestly surprised I finished it all. The mashed potatoes on the side were a great match.
Mango Mojito: 8.8/10 This drink was strong in the best way. The mango flavor really came through and paired nicely with the alcohol. I felt tipsy after just a few sips. Definitely worth the price.
Blue Raspberry Lemon Droptini: 9/10 This was delicious and fun. The lemon sugar rim was a perfect touch and worked really well with the drink. It kind of reminded me of a Capri Sun, just with alcohol.
Marblehead absolutely impressed me again. The food, the drinks, and especially the service made it a night to remember. Stephanie’s kindness, memory, menu knowledge, and thoughtful recommendations are a huge part of why we came back, and I’m so glad we did. I’m already looking forward to...
Read moreI will never come here again & I will never recommend this establishment to anyone. As soon as we were seated we informed our waitress that my mother has a SEVERE dairy allergy. When my mom was ordering her food, she asked the waitress if what she wanted had any milk in it & the waitress assured her there was no milk at all. After we got our food and my mom had a few bites, she started not to feel well almost instantly. She moved the shrimp around on the plate & noticed a butter consistency at the bottom of the plate. We called our waitress over, asking if this was butter & the waitress answers yes…not seeing that this is clearly an issue. The waitress states she did not know that there was milk in butter. How do you not know that?!?! How can someone be so careless? Rather than just guessing & assuming there was no milk in what my mother ordered, she should have double checked in the kitchen with the chef. I’m not even so sure that she informed the kitchen of my mother’s allergy. Our waitress didn’t seem to care or see the severity in this. My mother left your establishment in pain & suffering a horrible allergic reaction, just because your waitress was careless & clueless. She even said at one point, “I’m sorry, I didn’t know or think about it. I don’t have that allergy.” That isn’t comforting or making the situation better at all. She had me absolutely furious. Food allergies should be taken seriously & clearly in this situation, was not. This is the very reason why my mother has anxiety about going out to eat at restaurants. And not to mention, our waitress mentioned that the manger was aware of what happened, but the manager never came over to apologize or check on my mother. Just a very bad experience. I worked in a restaurant for five years & this is not how you treat customers. And for a ‘seafood restaurant’, their seafood is not good. Go to The Farmer & The Fisherman if you want good, fresh seafood. Do not waste...
Read moreI’ve been coming to this seafood restaurant for convenience, particularly because my son recently got braces and is limited to soft foods. He loves seafood, and this restaurant would be ideal for his preferences. However, each time we've visited, the experience has been extremely disappointing. The lack of empathy, accountability, and basic customer service is beyond frustrating for a business that is supposed to be centered around hospitality and creating a pleasant dining experience. Despite trying to give this location multiple chances—taking breaks and returning months later—the experience remains consistently poor. This reminds me why I dread coming here. I have spoken to two different managers over time, and both displayed an appalling lack of professionalism, speaking to me with clear disdain when I raised concerns about miscommunications with our orders, issues with point system registration, or other service-related problems. On one occasion, I came to celebrate my son’s birthday, as he specifically wanted seafood. Unfortunately, the experience was so unpleasant that we ended up leaving and celebrating at a different seafood restaurant to salvage the day. Afterward, I was left with a very sour impression of this place. Even when my son orders his favorite dishes—calamari and crab legs—there are always issues, whether it’s with the food quality or the service. I’ve heard from some people who say they've had positive experiences here, but I struggle to understand who they're encountering. The staff here consistently fail to meet basic standards of service and courtesy. I typically don’t leave negative reviews unless I feel compelled to, and while I’d like to believe it’s just an off day, the recurring pattern suggests otherwise. It's unfortunate, but I can no longer recommend this restaurant. They need to seriously reevaluate their service standards if they want to maintain any reputation for...
