My husband and I have been eating here since we moved into town 12 years ago. We hadn't been here in a couple of months, so we decided to go to breakfast. I ordered the same thing I always ordered, which was the breakfast sandwich on a bagel. It has been the same price for a long time, $12, but this time, it came with no hashbrowns like always. It was just a large white plate with a little bagel sandwich in the center. There was no notification that the meal had changed, so we immediately asked the grumpy waitress about the hashbrowns. She said the meal no longer comes with them, and there was nothing she could do about it. It changed a month ago. I enquired about the other meals coming with hashbrowns and she said, yes the rest do, just not that one. She didn't attempt to make it right, discount the meal, add hashbrowns this time or anything. Just pay the same price as usual for less food. I asked the hostess, who was very sweet, for a menu so I can see for myself the changes. I saw nothing different than the usual menu. The breakfast sandwich meal even has what it doesn't come with in parentheses under the description, which said it doesn't come with pancakes or French toast. Nothing about changes with hashbrowns. Additionally, the menu doesn't list the price for a side of toast, which was $3 when a whole loaf of bread costs $3. Instant hot chocolate was $4 each. This is garbage. Next time I will stay home, put my bread in my toaster and fry my own eggs. They will no longer have...
Read moreI have been visiting the pioneer for 20 years. It WAS our families 1/2 point when heading up north. My dad used to stop there with our family and now I'm continuing by stopping there with my family.
On our last visit I asked the man at the register for two cups of warm milk for our babies (yes twins :) ). The man behind the counter told me no we don't do that here. So I said ok then just two glasses of milk please. No was the answer. What? I can't order two glasses of milk?
Our waitress over heard this and after I went to sit back down she came over and gave me two glasses of warm milk. When I asked her who that was she said it was the owner. She did not have very many positive words to say about him. And neither did I.
I thanked our waitress, paid our bill, I left her a very nice tip because no matter how nice she was I WILL NOT be going back with my family.
To the owner of this establishment, I hope you read this! Continue to run your business in this manner and you won't be in business. Whatever you think you are doing right, is not right. I thought maybe mine was a fluke but after reading all the negative Google reviews. Once is a coincidence, twice...
Read moreWe walked into a very clean restaurant. We were seated with a choice of booth or table almost immediately, but not before the lengthy and very interesting list of available pies caught our attention. We were asked for our drink choices as were seated. We were presented with a two sided menu with side one an extensive breakfast list and the other lunches. My husband went simple with 2 Sunnyside eggs on white toast and hashed browns. Thd eggs were perfectly prepared. He found the bread a little too thick...it was not the traditional bread he us accustomed to. I had the country fried steak that comes with 2 eggs, hash browns (which they happily added onions to for me) or fruit and choice of bread. I had the English muffin. My meal came on two platters because the steak was so large it needed it's own plate. It is wonderful. Crispy with good quality steak; the sausage gravy very well seasoned. I ate the whole thing! I had to pack up the restof my meal to take home. Honestly there was enough food to fill 2 people. The service was impeccable. We took a pieces of lemon meringue and raspberry cream...
