Probably should have waited awhile to visit so they could work out the kinks. There is lack of communication between staff and patron as well as direction and flow was off. I think it will be a lovely place and worth a trip to Westfield. The menu items are different and somewhat unique. My complaints are really minor and hopefully will work their way out.
We walked in and weren't greeted by staff, though there was plenty of staff present, so we didn't exactly know what to do. Saw a sign to order drinks at the counter, makes sinse since you would need to show ID. So we just sat at a random table, looked over the menus, wondered if we ordered at one of the counters, finally spied a qr code sign. Im familiar with that form of payment and menues in other countries so its fine but im not used it in the states and it didnt jump out at me thats what we needed to do. At first, i couldn't get my phone to read the qr. Had to take the paper out of the plastic holder thing. Since you are ordering online there's little to do, except walk up to the counter I guess, if you have questions. Menu had some inconsistencies in offerings. Ordered the potato pancakss. A woman brought my order out, had the wrong mustard, told me plastic utensils and napkins were at the other counter for me to go get, and then disappeared. So bringing my food table side yet I still had to go get what I needed to eat it. The pancakes were soooo greasy oil was pooled at the bottom of the serving container. I could only eat about 3 of them due to the grease and threw the rest away. My companion thought her food was decent (brats and potato pancakes, very hot temp wise apple sauce, warm sauerkraut which neither of us liked, but not as greasy as mine). She got her food at the second counter where the utensils were. Not sure what we paid a tip for. Staff never came back to check on us. Maybe they werent supposed to, like mcdonalds, but there wasn't clear direction on the flow of the place.
I expected a store or merchandise, maybe some bottled cider to purchase and take home, etc but didn't see or wasn't told about anything. I was also interested in the source of their apples, type of apples, the processe of making the cider or different ciders, and so on. I assume they make their cider? A blurb on the back of the menu would suffice with such info.
I didn't order cider because I do not drink if I'm to drive anywhere. I would have bought bottle cider to take with me tho. My companion got a slushie cider I took a sip of and it was good!
Give it a try if your...
Read moreWe waited until the second day after opening because we knew this place would be a hit. The building and atmosphere were really nice and impressive. Will be really nice to ride our bikes along the trail and stop here for a drink and snack along the way. Service was great too! Shannon was our drink waitress and she came and checked on us to see how we liked everything. She joked around with us and was very helpful. The food needs some tweaking. We ordered a pretzel with cheese dip. The pretzel was a nice texture but it needed to be warmer and maybe brushed with melted butter then sprinkled with the salt. We also ordered the potato salad. This needed more (or some) apple cider vinegar, a little bacon grease for the flavor, kosher salt and maybe add some hard boiled egg and finely diced celery to make a true German potato salad. We also got the sampler brats...and we would suggest that you mark on the waxed liner paper what each brat is. We could tell which one was the jalapeno cheddar, but the other three, we had no idea. These are just suggestions and not criticisms at all. We know you are newly opened and doing your best to meet everyone's wants and desires. We will definitely be back because of the great service, location and cider. The muffin top cider was our favorite!!! Nice job...
Read moreI was stunned to see the amount of children at an establishment geared toward adults and advertised as a place to drink. This reason alone… will not be back. I do not endorse having bars trying to pull off the blurred lines of being a restaurant. I do not find it appealing that people are going to a place to drink, drinking in front of their kids and then putting their kids in a car and driving home. If you are okay with that, then it might be for you but it’s not something I can get behind. If I was not with a group with others I would have left… ontop of being shocked by the amount of kids, I waited 25 minutes to order a flight, told I wasn’t able to order one because they were backed up and while waiting for my food about 5 minutes later… people ordering flights…the whole reason I came was to try a flight so that was frustrating. 15 minute line for food ontop of 25 minutes for a drink I wasn’t able to get but once food was ordered it came out not too long after and it was decent. 1 app 9 dollars, salad 14 and one drink 7. Not including tip, which is a lot to ask for when you literally order your food standing up and go get it yourself like a fast...
