This was the worst experience! We went here as we are visiting from out of town as my bf is working in area and this was suggested but the service was horrible ! SANDRA is absolutely the worst manager w no compassion or care for guests.idk if they treated us different bc we are a young mixed couple but it was clear they didn’t care about our business. We changed our order within 2min and they had a problem w that. I ordered a ribeye medium rare and they brought my bf food out 18min before mine then when I got my steak it was well done! They offered nothing in return! My bf waited for my food to come to eat together and by the time my food came out his plate was cold. They offered nothing in return for not only over cooking my steak but the issue of him getting his food and waiting 20min for mine to even come out. Food should come out together and then no lack of compassion or understanding after we waited for my plate to come out incorrect like we aren’t paying for a service. Restaurants provide a service that’s what we as guest pay for and we paid for cold food and horrible customer service Again maybe it’s bc we are young and an interracial couple but this was a horrible experience and SANDRA Did NOTHING to rectify the situation pre judging us like we can’t afford everything we ordered and we ordered 3 round of drinks and 2 appetizers before our meals even came out. the sushi app roll app was good tho but they JUDGE YOU when you walk in and the manager had an attitude as if we were wrong for speaking up on the service SANDRA DO BETTER AS THE MANAGER BC YOUR ATTITUDE IS HORRIBLE AND CLEARLY DONT CARE ABOUT CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE I am very disappointed in this restaurant especially after all the great reviews this was very disappointing and a waste of money they didn’t even clear the apps off the table while waiting for the steak I moved the sushi plate to other side of table thinking my steak would be right out but 20min later it arrived and they still didn’t remove the app plate. just not a good experience very...
Read moreWe planned a birthday for my father several weeks back. We called and spoke to the restaurant and they booked our party without any question for 15 people by the water. 5 days before the party I called to confirm and ask about table/covid protocols (I'm pregnant so I want to be extra safe) and to put a card down for payments (gift to my father). They informed me that the reservation was incorrectly made, we would not be given a table by the water and actually we could only get tables scattered throughout the restaurant (3 tables). They said they don't have tables to fit 1 people. I was frustrated and said I'd call back after I spoke to my parents. I called back and then was told we could actually put 2 tables together and all would be great. I told my parents who then called back for further confirmation (for obvious reasons as things kept being flip flopped). They were told by the manager, Evan, that they can have ONE table and there is no issue. I was scratching my head and called back to understand why I was told something totally different. Evan told me (5 minutes after he spoke to my parents) that he was wrong and he could not offer us one table. At this point I thought this was all a practical joke. My parents called back later that evening to speak to the events manager, Julie. Julie was a whole other situation - she yelled, she told my parents numerous times they can cancel, that they had called too many times for her liking ... appalling behavior. Evan then called my parents today to "refuse service" because we called them too much. Again, I'm left scratching my head. We kept calling back because we were told something different every phone call. Truly, BE CAREFUL planning anything here. If I never called originally we would have shown up on the day of the party to not even be seated together (if even seated). The treatment of both pregnant and senior people in this situation was really something else and there was true discrimination as they clearly heard my...
Read moreThis place has it's "on" days and "off" days just like most non-Michelin star restaurants do, but for some reason The Landing has had more off days than on days in my personal experience. I had dinner there a couple nights ago for the 1st time in 2-3 years expecting an amazing, delicious dinner, but unfortunately was surprised to experience probably my worst meal I've ever had at The Landing. The ambience and views were GREAT just like they always are as The Landing has my favorite views and seating in the ENTIRE Conejo Valley. However, the food was just really OFF! Not sure if it was due to the COVID conditions or if the angel-hair pasta with blackened chicken in a red roma tomato sauce is their worst dish on their menu and just isn't "their thing", but it was VERY BLAND and hardly had any flavor. It was honestly so bland and flavorless that if this were my 1st time eating there, I would never go again and it would rank in the top 5 of my worst restaurants ever list based on their food. Thankfully, I've been to The Landing at least a couple dozen times over the past 16-17 years so I know that they have much better dishes and can make much better food than this one experience/dish. In fact, some of the sushi rolls I've had here have been some of the best sushi I've EVER HAD!! So I'll keep going back every couple of months or so just like I normally have past decade. Honestly, I think sometimes their views and setting when seated outside are actually more impressive than the food! hehe :) Hopefully this review gives you a full idea of how beautiful the restaurant's setting and views are when seated outside (especially at sunset!!), but how they can be "hit-or-miss" with some of their dishes. These dishes are usually their non-seafood &...
