Palmer House Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Westland

The parking lot was a little confusing but they have a side lot as well that doesn’t look attached but this place is easy to find. They have an outdoor patio which is nice it was just a little too windy to sit outside but it would be nice to sit outside one time. The inside is very big and they have a pool table, keno machine, a DJ booth and a dance floor. There wasn’t a lot of people here however the NFL Draft is here in Detroit right now so I’m sure everyone is down there because that attendance was 700,000 people I can only imagine at least 150,000 were from Michigan but it was a little quiet which is nice cause I’m not really into crowded environments as much as I used to be. We ordered drinks and food, I ordered hand cut fries, the Black & Bleu Burger with extra jalapeños and we shared Queso Con Carne. The hand cut fries were just okay, they seemed a little soggy didn’t have much crunch to them at all. I have had a lot better. The Queso Con Carne was actually really delicious, it tasted like Hamburger helper cheese which I am not saying that as a bad thing because I love the cheese in HH, it was thick, gooey and delicious! I loved it. Then next came out my Black & Bleu burger, I always order my meats rare and this rare burger was really good, I also added jalapeños on it for an extra 25 cents. I also had Onion Rings ordered with it and they were really good, they weren’t greasy like most Onion Rings usually are and they actually had crunch in the inside and soft on the outside, it was just perfect. All the food was really good, we wanted to try their pizzas but they were all out of the flatbread and pizza dough so maybe we will try...

I have been going to the Palmer House since it was JR’s. I discovered JR’s in 2009. I had the worst meal today (10/13/17) that I have ever had there. I got the fish dinner special. The grease ran off the fish, it was awful. I could not even make it better at home. Knowing that the meal was awful, and the bartender agreeing with me, not one person employed there offered anything to me for the poor quality of the food. I should not have to ask, seeing that I spent over $200 the previous night and always spend $100 or more when I stop. As a constant patron that spends a lot of money there, yesterday I tried to give some positive input to the owner, Rebecca, about maybe getting some healthy snacks behind the bar (i.e. cashews, peanuts, almonds) instead of the chips and doritos that they sell as snacks. Her attitude and response was, “I don’t want too many snacks behind the bar because I want people to buy my food”..! Really, all I suggested was to replace some of the unhealthy chips with some healthy nuts. I will spend very little time there from now on, as I do not appreciate that kind of attitude, and I donated $1000 to help them have a pig roast on 9/03/17. I guess she forgets quickly. The food is going downhill, they can not find a cook that will stay, and they do not seem to care. They have lost my business. The menu is limited at best. Spend your money...

Went in October for a small birthday with 7 people wants to order the $5 burger and beer special there sign gave no start and ending time but we order ate and left the special we were told was from 11_3 AFTER THE FACT

Today we went again for the same special still on there sign posted under their sign again we were told it's not the special they needed it covered be coz they don't honor it again after placing our order was then notified No onion rings so I sub for mushrooms instead of cutting me a deal for the twice being inconvince for them not ordering the supplies for the kitchen I was charged full price
