OMG! I haven't been here in years, about 10, and they remodeled with some great upgrades. The food had not changed too much, except for the greens are better prepared, and the broths are much lighter. In fact, it's just how I would make it if I could. LOL I'm not a great chef or anything, just another experienced person at eating out.
Let's go over the details of the upgrades: The rooms are all remodeled since Covid. Especially, the bathrooms and better AC! I gave 4 stars on atmosphere because the room is not dimly lit with light background music. Oh wait, that would double the prices, right? I came for the food, not the music. (Silly grin) The silverware is not the best but better, to keep the prices down, I think. The service is better, still just as friendly and down to earth as you can get, but they are much faster than before. I got my coffee in less than 60 seconds and my food in less than 3 minutes (considering the restaurant was more than half full), I think that's a new record for me after eating out for 45 years! All of the sauces were given on the side (so you have the choices what and how much you want), even the shrimp sauce was minimal in the little tiny cup (covered, because of the strong odor). Yeah, some people would run out of the door if they are not use to this odor. Or even worse, ignorance guys like me used to put all of it in my soup and suffer from eating way too much salt. Yes, the geniuses behind the preparations and servings are smarter than most. Last but not least, some reviews claimed that the price rose to high. I disagree 100 percent! I ordered a large bowl of noodles with escargot and an ice cappuccino (Vietnamese Style, of course) that came out to 20 dollars even. I left 2 dollars tip (10%), that I wish I could have left 5 dollars(25%), which is what they deserve for the not great service, but awesome! I will have to over tip them next time. (Chuckle)
In summary, I recommend this restaurant over most other Vietnamese Authentic Restaurants in the Southern California Area. For those who disagree, please write to me directly on Google's Platform. Thank you for reading and sharing!
Cheers and happy dining everyone.
Note: I'm not paid for by anyone for good or bad reviews. LOL But you prefer to read a more biased review, there's lots of them out there. This note is only added to my...
Read moreWe went to this restaurant for more than 20 years and we always happy with the food there. The restaurant owner always nice and friendly with us. However, I got the horrible experience. My son ordered the green jello desert. My son just tasted couple spoons and said it is not the same like it used to be before. I try to taste it and it was old and rotten food with the horrible smell. It seems like the old food from so weeks old, I gave it to the restaurant owner and she didn’t even said sorry 😐. I am so upset and concerned about my son health as well as the attitude of the owner. She didn’t even care to say sorry for her terrible bad quality of food. The waiters attitude wasn’t nice either. Nobody said sorry even though they serve rotten food...
Read moreSuper glad that this place is back open now, even if it is only open for takeout like most restaurants. It looks like they remodeled too. Too bad we can't dine in now.
I loved their bun cha ha noi before (pre-COVID) and I'm even more obsessed with it now! And so are my parents! Best bun cha ha noi ever. It's currently my favorite thing to have on warm days like the ones we've been having. It seriously is so refreshing.
Also, you should always check to see if they have fresh coconut jello. It's unique to this restaurant and gets sold...
