One star deducted for the customary penalty of serving the majority of beverages in single use disposable plastic cups.
Two stars deducted for improper treatment. I had just completed a 60 mile bicycle ride from Brattleboro VT to the Fitchburg locomotion line and had some extra time. I changed my shirt to a clean although certainly had some mud on my legs from the grueling route across soggy railtrail and forest roads.
The bartender treated me with extreme suspicion and contempt. First, he inquired where I got my two chicken tenders. Then when I paid the $10 fare for a flight of beer, I gave him a Jackson ($20) and a Jefferson ($2) and asked for $10 in change (equivalent to a Hamilton, hence a $2 tip). He then made a comment about the $2 bill being counterfeit, which I initially assumed was a joke. But then he said that he wasn't going to take it. So I said he is free to refuse the tip and took the Hamilton back.
The irony was not lost on me that on the eve of Independence Day, the bartender rejects US currency whose vignette depicts the signing of the declaration of independence 247 years ago.
According to the brewery's webpage, it was founded out of an "appreciation for craft beer during... adventures of biking, canoeing, and hiking around New England. ... Its roots remain deep in outdoor adventures with a focus on community". I ended up leaving the brewery deflated after this experience, but I found true community and adventure on the Streamline trail overlooking the Nashua River and in Fitchburg where a grand celebration...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreReally good beer and it feels like an event going there.
Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon, after a hike. Wanted a burger and a beer and we were in the neighborhood.
I'll give the bar an "A" for ease of ordering, and of course, the local brew is pretty nice...
The eating area is a tent-style building with picnic tables. Ordering involves scanning a QR code and putting in the order. It appears that one server, a very nice but definitely overworked young woman, was bringing trays of food to the tables.
No complaints about the process of ordering or the wait. Our food came, as ordered in an amount of time that seemed reasonable.
The delivery; 2 juicy burgers, fries, a salad, and coleslaw, was made in one move with a few packets of ketchup and two characteristic utensil-salt-pepper-napkin packages.
By the time you can size up your delivery and realize; Hey I'm gonna need some real napkins for these burgers. Hey the salad is kinda dry, we're gonna need more dressing. Not enough ketchup etc... The server is gone. You have to intercept her during one of her other deliveries and she will accomodate...
The burgers were nice. (You wouldn't want a brewery not to get burgers right...) So were the fries, and the coleslaw wasn't bad either. I'll give the Caesar Salad a B-, once we had...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis seems like a great place to have beer. Live music, darts/shuffleboard. Outdoor area with Cornhole, etc.
But looking at it like a brew pub to get food and beer it is a mediocre experience.
There is no traditional wait staff, you need to pull up a menu and place a food order on your phone, then go wait in line at the bar to get drinks.
Food got delivered with no utensils or sauces, needed to try to chase someone down to get them. Burger came out burnt with no condiments and no one to get them from.
I felt like I spent more time needing to chase stuff down than sitting and enjoying the food and drinks.
Honestly I felt like not even tipping the staff since they did nothing but spent a minute walking food over.
Overall it just wasn't up to par with other brew pubs if you were looking more for a restaurant with good beer rather than a brewery that also has food available.
It seems like it would be a fun place to go to with no kids to have a few beers but I don't think I would come back for a meal.
The food service is a joke to be blunt, my impression was why even bother offering food if you aren't going to do it right? Might as well just have a food truck in the...
