wish i could rate ZERO STARS. We’ve been in the car for three hours and was at this restaurant for 1.25 hours. Waitress did not come and check on us but checked on other tables. A table arrived not too long after us but received their food before us and was finished with their food as ours arrived (we asked for it to-go). We ordered a cheese pizza, steak and cheese, a burger, and a hotdog all at the same time by the way. I will say the pizza came to us and we were able to eat in house but waited a long time. The excuse was the grill was busy so I guess it was just busy for us. There were other tables that came in well after us who received their food before us and right as we got ours. and I called in to let the manager know what was going on but they said there was no manager available. I let them know the situation and that our waitress had too many tables. They then told me the waitress was excellent despite forgetting to bring us a some of the things we asked for hence my suggestion. A “manager” was suddenly there and he said there wasn't much we could do because they’re busy. I’ve worked in food service before. I told them i understood because you could hear them in the back talking about that (and being tired. Maybe thats why our order was missing things) THEY HUNG UP ON ME! The place is not a big place. Two servers, at least 3 people in the back. There was maybe 10 tables in the place at once. We all didn’t come in at the same time by the way and there was like 2 tables when we arrived. The hotdog was for my 1 year old son and it didn't even come with a bun. Why does it take an hour to make? We went to a Giovannis for the first time in Huntington WVA and had excellent food and service. This is why we chose to stop here on our way back to Maryland. VERY...
Read moreVery good, but not up there with the best. They seem quite understaffed, so even when there wasn't many people in the restaurant, service was still slow. That's not really their fault and I'm sure they're trying hard to get more workers.
As for the food, the country fried steak hot sandwhich was something I don't normally see on menus, so I had to try it. It was cooked perfectly and the homemade bread was a nice treat. It was very thick and dense, just how I like it. It was also used for the French toast, which again enhanced the dish. The strawberry topping tasted homemade and not from a can, which was a pleasant surprise.
The sausage was sweet and juicy and I have no complaints about the apple pie thing, either. I forgot the actual name. The pancakes weren't really my thing, though. They were thin and crispy, whilst also not being mixed very well. I like mine super thick, but that's just personal preference.
The atmosphere was casual and comforting, but could use improvement. Overall, I'd still recommend this place; my family enjoyed their...
Read moreGiving 4 stars for the service and the vibe. It's a small, family-owned business in a small town. They have regulars, and they have that small-town everyone knows everyone type of vibe, and it's kinda nice from this city-person's perspective. LOL. They were very graceful and patient even though we came in only an hour before close and it took us a good minute to figure out what to eat. They also were really nice about some modifications we had because someone in my party has some food restrictions.
I ordered the spaghetti, and other people in my party ordered a salmon with rice and toast and their brisket sandwich with fries. Others just got drinks and fries. My spaghetti was okay; I wish it was a little bit more flavorful, but it wasn't bad. I was told the salmon and rice was really filling and good, and the brisket sandwich was delicious. I believe the brisket sandwich is a local favorite, and for a reason! Portions are as expected.
Overall, a solid...
