Terrible with allergies!
Let me start off by saying I have eaten here before and found the omelette I ordered was very fresh and the ingredients in it were very fresh. It was delicious and the coffee was good.
When I had eaten there before, I had ordered home fries, and I was told that there were no ingredients in them that were on my allergy list. When I went there today, I explained that I have extensive allergies and that I cannot eat wheat as well. I gave them a list of my allergies, and I was told that spices Were an ingredient in hashbrowns, but they didn't know what the spices were so I asked if I could have something else and she offered me beans and I know for a fact that I am allergic to the ingredients in beans so I politely declined, but I did ask if there was something else I could have And she said no that's it and we asked for a menu and I saw that they had oatmeal.
I asked if I could have the oatmeal instead since I was not having the hashbrowns or the toast.
She told me that it was instant oatmeal and packets and they did have the regular plain kind but she would check the ingredients. I said the regular plain kind is fine. She asked me if I wanted a half serving which is one packet or a full serving, which is two packets. I assumed that this was not going to be an extra charge but would be in place of the two items that I was not eating since I had received my omelette and it was of normal size.
When I got the bill, I saw that she had charged extra for my son's right toast which is on the menu but she also charged me $1.79 for the oatmeal. I inquired and they told me the beans are the only substitute that they allow and they would not take that off the bill.
This is not a matter of not liking ingredients. This is a matter of anaphylaxis if I consume the things that I am allergic to it is not a matter of choice or taste. It is a medical condition.
If someone would like to eat something and cannot eat half of the meal because of life-threatening allergies, a packet of instant oatmeal instead of a pound of potatoes or half a pound of potatoes and a couple of slices of toast shouldn't be a big deal.
Two meals cost over $40 including the tip and all I got to eat was a small omelette for 20 bucks....
My son got the hungry man meal.
They charge extra for everything and although it's fresh, it's not worth the price. My instant oatmeal was not fully hydrated. I ate it anyway because I was still quite hungry.
When my 'allergy omelette' arrived, I had no coffee in my cup so I had to wait for someone to come around to bring me coffee and by then my omelette was already getting cold. My son received his meal much later than mine.
Very disappointing ...and a poor business model.
Waitress was nice, but, not...
Read moreFirst time trying Kathy's and it was delicious! Definitely going back soon to explore there menu and specials since I only tried the Belgian waffle and sausage patties. Service was welcoming and waitresses were extremely pleasant cant wait to go back
EDIT 3 years Later lol - Have been coming to Kathy's more consistently these last few months, and nothing has changed, I can still say the same as my previous review and will be posting photos of my breakfast with this new edit. I made this new edit to point out something I appreciate about them, they have a great system in the kitchen that puts the food out in a timely manner, I've never waited more then 15 min(usually less then that) for my food and it always comes out fresh and piping hot. Also, the dining room is always on point with servers making sure customers are having a quality breakfast with fresh coffee and reassurance that meals are correct, along with a short food wait, wait time for seats are also not as long thanks to ppl getting food on time and still have time to enjoy there meals, I reccomend Kathy's if you're looking for a great breakfast and...
Read moreGood food at your average prices. My first experience here was quite with quick service and a good breakfast. Busy business with nice people. Will come back again. I am reviewing this establishment again approximately a year later. Today there was so much butter on the toast, even after removing the excess the toast was terrible. The home fries were very few and dried out. I requested one type of jam and was either ignored it didn't matter what I wanted because it wasn't what I asked. The waitress just put my order down and walked away and never asked if everything was okay until I was walking out the door after eating only 2 eggs and drinking the juice. I received the bill for $7 and left a $3 tip. Did I forget to say the waitress was the owner of the restaurant of 26yrs. I heard her telling the story to...
