In the recent past, my spouse and I had a terrific time, at La Plage! We were visiting Westport, CT from NYC, and felt so happy that this restaurant exceeded our expectations. 🙏🏻 I meeaaan, we hoped it would be lovely (especially since we’d gone to celebrate our anniversary), but it was MORE than lovely — it was excellent. : ) We found the environment to be both warm and upscale — even though it was “fine dining,” there was nothing stuffy about it. The dinner atmosphere was elegant, charming and adult (though, again, sans being stuffy in tone).
So, the staff members were a big part of what we loved about it. : ) Brooke, our friendly hostess, and Nick, our delightful server, were both wonderful. Their nurturing vibes helped us to feel right at home! Honestly, everyone was on point, from the server to those who brought us bread and butter and refilled our water. (So sorry - the only names we caught were “Nick” and “Brooke.”) As we don’t usually go to such nice restaurants, that was a pleasant surprise…we thought, tbh, that the energy might be a bit uptight, but - while maintaining high standards of hospitality - it was anything but that. In fact, it was really pleasant in nature.
Alright — let’s get into the food! : ) I’m sorry that my photos are a little blurry here, due to the low lighting, yet everything tasted so amazing. Along with a healthy, vegetarian appetizer (“The Fall Vegetable Crudite”), I opted for the yummy fish and chips and my honey opted for a delicious burger. Both were expertly cooked and presented; we loved our meals! And - to top it all off - we rejoiced in a shared chocolate lava cake with English cream and pistachio gelato. It was to die for! Or - to be more positive - it was to live for! LOL
It was all incredible - and made for such an enjoyable anniversary celebration; thanks so much for your hospitable ways, La Plage team! We wish you all only the best and brightest, and hope to see you all again. : )

Read moreThird time we went here since we live again the area. The food is good, the location is awesome, atmosphere also nice. However, after three visits we have to conclude that the service is really bad. Root cause we think is the manager of this restaurant. We have notice that he only pays attention to the people he knows, his regulars. He doesn't walk around keeping an eye on things. We perceive him to be arrogant and just not a good host. Our visit today, was agin proof of that. We had a table booked at 8:45. When we arrived there were three ladies behind the reception counter. They told us our table wasn't ready yet, people there were wrapping up, and asked us to go sit at the bar until the table was ready. Wait was long. We saw the manager, who again was pre-occupied with his regulars/friends, but not keeping an eye on smooth operation of his restaurant. Missed completely that his front desk staff was messing up. At 9:15 I went up to the desk again, where at that time only one lady was left. She said that the people at our designated were still not ready to go. Gave no indication of how long we still had to wait. Did not offer an alternative. For what it is worth, we could gave waited another half hour. So we left. The lady said said "thank you" when we left.... During our wait no one came up to us to apologize for the wait and/or offer an alternative solution. Pity is that the location of this restaurant is so nice, and the food also good, that most guests will accept the mediocre service and that this arrogant host will continue his poor...
Read moreLa Plage is a restaurant that pretends to be high-end, but falls far short. The only positive is the atmosphere, which is open, airy, and next to the water. However, the food and the service were both unacceptable.
For my main entree, I ordered a “whole lobster” for $48. However, I was served a very small lobster with the claws missing. I told the server, who said she would tell the manager, but instead offered me a free glass of wine or something else. Additionally, the lobster itself, which was broiled, was soggy and drowning in a herb sauce. The side dishes were equally unimpressive.
My wife’s seafood salad was equally unimpressive and overpriced.
As for the service, it took over 45 minutes to come out and, unless we called someone over, no one came to refill the water, bread or ask if we would like beverages. Likewise, no asked if we enjoyed our meal, until we complained.
The overall cost of the meal, with tip and tax, was $159 for two people. I do not recommend La Plage and there are much better restaurants in the Westport area for the same...
