We visit the casino in the area while we are here from Florida a few times a year and have passed this little slice of heavenly bbq up one too many times! This trip we decided to stop in for lunch. Cute little place, older interior but clean, a diner feel to it. Very busy place but didn’t have to wait too long (noticing the now hiring sign outside worried me) the waitress was very apologetic and friendly. We had no problem waiting as these days with the employment crisis, waiting is the norm and good staffing hard to come by. We were in no hurry. She ( and I don’t recall her name sadly because she was great) grabbed our drinks rather quickly (the sweet tea was 💯) and we got a onion ring appetizer, hands down the best I’ve had, the batter was amazing and the flavor divine along with the special sauce. We all ordered the bbq plate, regular size. My husband & FIL ordered the large which was a shareable portion.
The fries, cole slaw, baked beans and okra sides we all ordered were delicious. Not a fan of the Mac and cheese but I’m more of a Kraft boxed kinda girl, lol! Garlic toast was also good, very buttery, I feel like their grilled cheese must be amazing as I’m sure they use the same bread! The bbq sauce still has me puzzled as it had a tomato flavor, but so good! Different from the usual overly sweet sauce. I’m a huge pickle fan and loves the few pickles on top of the meat as a garnish. Everything was hot and fresh, service excellent, friendly staff and overall great experience. You can definitely tell they do everything with love, customer service is a priority and they pride themselves on serving quality food. 10 out of 10! Will definitely be back to try some other things on the menu that sounded good and will have to save room for dessert next time! Keep up the good work and be blessed! Y’all were great and thank you for a...
Read moreI rarely ever leave a review. This place literally had me speechless and when I did speak, all I said was WOW. Unfortunately, this is not a good thing... I will start with the good by saying that we were greeted instantly upon entering, the waitress was nice and the onion rings were decent. Both my husband and I ordered the rib plate. Once the waitress sat them on our table, it looked very unappetizing- colorless ribs thrown down coated with sauce that made it look even worse. Now I don't judge really on presentation because some of the best tasting food doesn't always look the greatest. I continue to taste. Everybody loves ribs that are tender and fall off the bone, right?! These in fact did fall off the bone but had the texture of mush. 🤢 It lacked flavor, they were definitely made in an oven and not a smoker, and the sauce is just off-putting! Before I even tried the ribs, my first bite was a French fry- God only knows how long they had been sitting because of how cold they were. I brought it to the attention of the waitress who promptly informed the kitchen and brought me "warm" fries that honestly looked even older and tasted stale. The only item I was able to stomach were the small side of canned green beans. The "toast" is a slice of white bread that was placed on a griddle for a moment only on one side and then removed. My husband had a baked potato that was warm but very hard and old. The waitress placed the ticket on our table.... $45! I was so sad to have paid so much for food that I couldn't bare to eat. We ended up getting a to-go box so we could feed it to our dogs in order to not have this meal be a complete waste of money. I almost got sick looking at it while putting it in the box. I mean it when I said WOW. We have never had such an awful meal that wasn't even able to eat, ever. Until we came...
Read moreI go here regularly for dinner and sometimes lunch on weekend. The pulled pork is good. I’ve had the ribs once but they are a bit on the burned and chewy side. I’ve also had the grilled barbecue chicken breast but it appears they split one breast and flattened it to death. If your hungry you are better getting the large plate. For the pulled pork I’ve found the regular plate is adequate for a good meal. Most of the time I get the fried okra as a side. Sometimes it’s a bit over cooked but for the most part good. The only problem is that I’m assuming this is probably bought in a bag breaded but they fail to remove the caps of the okra that is hard and fibrous and you have to spit it out. The baked beans are too tomatoey tasting for me. The side salad is just lettuce with diced tomatoes. Would be nice if they would put a little shredded cheddar on top. Bathrooms are a bit scary and small but it’s an old building. Good service is hit or miss but food overall is good and if you’re not a barbecue fan they do have hamburgers and meat and three meals that are good country cooking. If you want to be honest, the biggest complaint I have about the place is the parking lot. The whole parking lot from front to back is riddled with holes big enough to take out an axle. I really don’t understand why as much business this place does that they do not spend the money to resurface the parking lot. It’s not that big and when it rains it’s even worse. UPDATE: Thank goodness! They finally paved the parking lot! I would like to believe my harsh review of it led to...
