Grand Buffet — Restaurant in Wharton

Passed through this little town of Wharton,Tx. While we was out trucking trying to get to McAllen!! I wanted Chinese food. We came upon Grand Buffet. Lunch time special was still in effect. Food was good for the price. They were bring out fresh food as we were walking in and leaving. I appreciated that. They kept hot fresh food on the line. It was not crowded at all. About eight of us in the restaurant after lunch time. Egg rolls were hard. Watermelon 🍉 was so sweet and yummy 😋. Customer service was a little disappointing. The waitress clearly looked at mista cup of tea going empty and she just kept going. I looked directly at her. She never came back to the table to ask if we were ok...nothing. Remember it was only eight of us in the whole restaurant eating. That was not good. Other than that if you are going through Wharton, TX and have a taste for Chinese I will recommend. Not really one to complain, but this experience made me sick. The food was good for being the closest buffet available, but charging $15+ for a 4 yr old, what? I didn't realize it was like that on the weekends or me and my oldest son could've gotten a plate to go to share for cheaper I'm sure. First off, doors were not open at 11 like the sign said. Shortly after we started eating there was a literal horror movie playing on the TV that was directly in front of us, a half dressed lady strapped to a table & a guy with a meat cleaver circling her, like for real. I had to ask them to change it! Like come on, not sure about anyone else but not my choice of movie while eating, also not very appropriate for kids present. I am really not sure how this place is still open? 🤔 The food was cold, some of the food had a smell like it was reaching expiration. If looked as if it was sitting the entire day and maybe the previous day? It for sure was NOT fresh or even good. The wontons felt like it had plastic edges. Not sure what that was about but we were there not even 10 mins. We ate our 1 plate and not even all of the food and paid 30 bucks for nothing. My bottle sprite was the only thing that taste good. The Mexican waitress has no personality what so ever. Its just sad this is the only Chinese buffet in town. Someone definitely needs to come and make a decent Chinese buffet. 1 out of 5 is generous but that's the lowest I could score. If u want good buffet I say go a town over that's...
