The Shrimp Shack at Cozy's — Restaurant in Whidbey Island

My Hispanic friend and I walked in excited to eat some local food. We were starving after loading 1,400 lyds of heavy wood flooring.

We we're greeted with a smile and told to sit where ever we like.

Our waitress came over and was apparently not the most enthusiastic person to take my order but I assumed she was having a rough day and did my best to make her job easy and to give her my best.

We ordered our food around 12:50 and the waitress began seating others and taking their orders.

25 minutes pass and we still have not received our food though two new tables of customers who had come in after us not only received their food but were half way through when we decided to finally question where our food was.

When asked this question the woman barely engaged in conversation, walked away from me in mid sentence and then we found out that the order she had placed had not even made its way back to the kitchen.

30 minutes and our order was just now being communicated to the kitchen.

The biggest disappointment of all of this was the fact that our waitress seemed completely unconcerned about our wait.

She had passed by our table countless times in 30 minutes and it never occurred to her to address our long wait time.

When she admitted to our food not being ordered she did so with the excuse " well, I did place the order, I did my part"

When I confronted her non chalant attitude she cut me off mid sentence with "ok, whatever" and walked away.

Needless to say, we decided to eat somewhere else.

To top it all off with a big fat cherry..... She charged us $6 for our 2 drinks.

I am a big tippper. If she had put in ANY effort she could have went home with an additional $10 in her pocket but she chose to be the worst waitress I have ever...

Was thrilled to find this place open later in the evening on a Friday night. First time to Whidbey and upon debarking off the ferry and finding most places closed at 8 or even 7pm on a Friday night was puzzling to say the least. Thank you very much for keeping regular hours!

Even though the parking lot was jammed we got in right away and they seated my party of 8. We had kids and they were very considerate not to sit us close to the adult-themed comedy act that was going on. I thought that was very respectable of the staff and appreciated it (although I would have loved to have watched the show - the guy seemed very funny).

Food was great and very much enjoyed it. I liked the jazzed-up clam chowder. Having just come from the coast it was great to see decent portions at non-extortionate prices as well. And the service was phenomenal. The young man who was our server was the best I've had in a long while.

Finally, you guys need to give some replies to these bad reviews as well - not just the good ones. Some ideas I can share for you to leave in response to the malcontents. "Sorry to hear you were not satisfied. We realize it is tough to be from Generation-Z and our establishment indeed is often not woke enough to earn honest reviews from the young folk." Or how about "Sorry to hear you weren't happy. We did our best to accommodate your lieabetic condition and apparently fell short". Or even "I can't get no...satisfaction! I can't get no...shrimpy action! When I'm driving in my car...and I'm heading down to Cozy's...and I can't get the shrimp so I'm really mad so I make up a review as false as it can be! Oh I can't get no...satisfaction!" Anyway, have fun...

🥘: 9/10. Every July 4th, me and many international friends will come the Rosario beach for a big picnic and we will always stop by here to get their shrimps and fried oysters! The shrimps tasted amazingly refreshing and very sweet. The texture and also the taste are perfection, it taste great with or without the cocktail sauce! My friend tried adding lemon juice on the shrimp and it just bring out the perfect freshness of the shrimp and elevated the taste to next level! Also the fried oysters are just as yummy and very crispy! I love them! 🧑🏻‍🍳: 7/10: They were all quite nice and friendly on July 4th! I wish they could have a day off and celebrate this day with their friends and family but I really appreciate them opening in this holiday so we can enjoy the food!
