We came out tonight, a Friday evening. This was our first time here, and they were moderately busy. We ordered cheese curds (very good), loaded brisket fries (very good), a platter with pork and smoked sausage and Mac & cheese (all very good, though the Mac & cheese was over-cooked, the flavor was good). And peach cobbler (horrible. Worst peach cobbler Iāve ever eaten.) The waitress was busy, but kept our drinks filled. Only issue was that they didnāt bring us silverware or condiments or paper towels when they brought our food. We had to get our own paper towels from another table. When they finally brought salt and pepper the salt was empty, so we asked another table near us to share theirs, which they kindly did. All that really wasnāt a big deal, and I wouldnāt take stars off for it. I understand being busy and things happen.
What I AM taking all the stars off for is that when our check came, all the prices were 4% higher than what they were on the menu. I asked the server why all the prices were higher, she just said something about a new POS system and now they have a service charge, and shrugged it off. I didnāt see a notification anywhere of a service charge, and 4% is quite a large fee considering she had no actual explanation for this fee. I didnāt argue with her because sheās busy, itās loud, and sheās not in charge of the fees anyway. However, I feel like itās the serverās job to make sure people are informed, and if itās not printed on the menu, she should have made us aware ahead of time that this service fee exists. The service fee isnāt even printed on the receipt, everything was just rung up 4% more than the menu price. For instance, menu states a soda is $2.99, and the price on the receipt was $3.11. The 2 meat platter was listed as $24.99, and the price on the check was $26.03.
Typically, I tip a minimum of 20%, but I only tipped 15% because this is just unacceptable. Also against state law to advertise one price and then charge another. Itās false advertisement.
On principle, we will not be back to this establishment because we canāt trust they arenāt trying to swindle people.
Update: after speaking with a manager about this (who happened to be the same person who served us last night), they apologized, but then said āit isnāt really that much of a difference.ā It sounds as if their new POS is charging extra and theyāre trying to get it fixed, perhaps, but in the meantime, everyone will simply be charged extra with no mention of it and no attempt to rectify the situation. The better customer service would be to comp a drink or something to make up for the extra fee that is supposedly being charged inadvertently. Instead, they just shrug and say itās not that much. Iāll never go here again, and Iāll be telling my friends not to go...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve seen a lot of great reviews without any description so Iām going to try and be as thorough as possible for everyone. Keep in mind this is their opening week, things may change but this was just my experience.
Food: We ordered 2 main dishes, The ribs and the Patty melt, and an appetizer, Cheese curds. After 30 minutes we still had not received anything, So we asked the waiter who informed us everything was backed up and so we continued waiting, It took 45 minutes to receive our appetizer and an additional 30 for our main courses, In total we were waiting for our food for over an hour. Upon receiving our food, The ribs were cold and the patty melt was completely undercooked. The cornbread was icey and the baked potato was extremely hard as if it was cooked for maybe 10 minutes at maximum. The ribs were almost all completely made up of fat and the food was just very poor. We wanted to order the brisket but they were completely out by the time we got there (5pm)
Service: The service was not as bad as the food, The restaurant was packed so we did expect a bit of delay and there was, However my party and I do not blame the servers for this. With how backed up the kitchen was and trying to make everyone happy, It was clearly very stressful for them and they were doing there best. However I would not say it was 5 stars and amazing because that just wouldnāt be truthful. Though we do not blame these poor servers, There still was a sense of hostility and not so welcoming behavior from most of them, They were upset and though again, we do not blame them, it still was there.
Atmosphere: The restaurant is decorated very nicely, There are plenty of tables and lots of room. There wasnāt a lot of space for waiting so we did end up waiting in our car but apart from that it was very cleanly. All around the most pleasant part experience of mine and my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe young lady at the drive thru window, blond hair and braces... She walked out to my car and took my order because there was a line that I thought was VERY nice of her to do that! I gave her my order and tipped her in advance just for her walking out to get my order and she was kinda surprised that I tipped her! Look folks, the window people work just as hard if not more than the table staff, so TIP THE WINDOW PEOPLE and you can bet your order will be right when you get home!! Now, to the food.... I'm really not crazy about BBQ however Pig N Pug has perfected the art in my opinion!! Everything was PERFECT right down to the peach cobbler. One doesn't have to drive to Nashville for GREAT food, it's here in White Bluff! We're really looking forward to the other offerings they have and I'll keep you posted on what and when I get something other than BBQ. Be safe and healthy my fellow SANE American citizens, Timothy in Kingston Springs since 1982....
Up date, 8/10/224 The BBQ has fallen off a cliff! The meat is VERY tough and stringy like cut and chopped gristle! Very disappointed, however the service at the window was wonderful... I'm having doubts about this new barbecue restaurant, loved it at first but with the peach cobbler that's nothing but crust and goop no peaches to see in it, very disappointed. For the money they spent on opening this place they better get their act together real quick, or Nashville...
