Food came out on time when ordered ahead of time. Another order that was placed for an appetizer and a pizza the appetizer came out after the pizza. From the beginning the place was louder than bars in Nashville. All coming from one table which come to find out upon leaving were “regulars”. The place was busy but not at all at full capacity. We came in with a decent sized group and 7 children under the age of 10. The table of “regulars” were significantly louder than the full table of children. The waitress who happened to be a manager but wasn’t a manager tonight catered to them more than anyone else I noticed. Was planning on spending more money for the evening out with everyone but that shortly came to an end with the service. Asked for the checks so we could leave and at this point was not rude in any way. As we waited for the checks the loud table of regulars was waited on 4 different times for more drink orders. After 15-20 minutes I went to the bar to the waitress of ours who somehow made manager at some point and asked for the checks. A few minutes went by still no checks. Asked for a manager the girl went and said the manager would be right out. Several minutes went by. Still no waitress. And still no manager. I had to go up to the bar and luckily the one I asked happened to be the manager for the night. I told her we needed our checks so we could leave. I explained to her that I asked several times already for checks but the waitress decided to not bring them but instead take other drink orders from the table who was being extremely loud and at this point was having adult conversations of explicit sexual activity even though a table of 7 children were right beside them. The manager informed me that she couldn’t do anything about the table being loud and that the table I referred to was a table of “regulars” and the waitresses tend to cater to the regulars even though it’s not right was her exact words. The checks came out wrong even though the waitress wrote down and was told specifically what was ordered for each group. I have been here multiple times and the food is always great. But from tonight’s service and how everything was handled and what was specifically said from a manager to a customer basically saying the regulars get priority over anyone else was greatly discouraging. Would love to talk to the owner of this establishment if they truly care about...
Read moreI have been here three times. On every visit, I ordered the "White House" Supreme. I absolutely love this pizza. I've wanted to try other pizzas, but that particular one is like crack. I can't get enough. Pizza has always been delicious. This is my new "go to" place for pizza, instead of NY Pie in H'ville.
They have quite a wide selection of beer on tap, so I think most people could find something to their liking.
Service has always been good, even when they are busy. Lunch traffic was moderate on two of the occasions, but I went on a Saturday afternoon/evening once and it was absolutely slammed. So plan accordingly, since you may have to wait on seating.
There was live music on that particular Saturday in the bar/pub area, which is where I sat. Music was pretty good. Probably louder than I would have preferred since I was in more of a chill mood, but everyone else seemed to be having a good time. It made it hard to hear everyone in our party. If I were in there again on a weekend with music, I would likely opt to sit away from the noise in order to converse easier. Not a bad experience, just giving people a heads up.
UPDATE: I returned to update this review and lower my first review by one star. Why? Well, first the positive, we tried the wings (both Buffalo and Parmesan) here and they were delicious.
Now for the bad, like another reviewer, my pizza has been soggy/doughy on a couple of recent trips. It just needed to be cooked a little longer, but it threw the whole experience off.
Also, my wife and I tried sitting in the main dining area during evening visits (while the live entertainment was occurring in the bar area) more recently. Not sure if it was the same guy as previously, but it absolutely sucked. Loud, off key warbling that was super annoying. It didn't help that on one of those trips some drunk chick was belting out "WOOOOOOOO" every few minutes. It led to this jarring juxtaposition of family restaurant meets dive bar.
For the most part, I enjoy the food, but WHP&P will likely be a daytime or carry-out destination for us...
Read moreTried this place tonight for the first time based on all the great reviews. When I arrived it was very busy and really looked like a true hidden gem. Unfortunately, that is where the good ends. I had ordered online a Philly Cheese Steak pizza (hold the ranch) and a bakers dozen wings with the house sauce. My order was not ready when I arrived but I was told it would be ready in seven minutes. Didn’t seem like a problem based on how busy they were. After waiting another 35 minutes it started to feel pretty unreasonable. When my order finally came out I took it and headed home. Big mistake. Arrived home and discovered a pizza not only without ranch but without sauce or cheese at all. Meat, mushrooms, onions, peppers on a dry crust. Not edible. I then decided just to eat the wings and surprise, surprise, no wings. Instead I had four chicken fingers with no sauce. Dry and inedible. I guess I should have checked my order before leaving but that just would have resulted in another long wait anyway. Overall the entire experience was disappointing. Can’t really say if the pizza or wings are any good since what they gave me was not pizza or wings, but I can say that what they gave me was simply inedible. Disappointing business.
Just thought I’d add a quick update. I did notice the owner responded to reviews so instead of calling to complain I expected the owner would respond based on my terrible experience. No response from the owner so I looked back and noticed the owner only responds with some version of “thank you” to positive reviews and ignores all negative reviews. Quite the owner. Hello genius, negative reviews tell you where your business is failing and what areas you need to fix. Ignore those and back in the “glory” of the positive reviews is a recipe for failure. I hope you don’t hurt your arm patting yourself on the back. You have problems you need to fix before you become one of the many...
